So, I would probably NEED one of those lovely little road bikes if I wanted to do this ride, yes?

That and time in the new saddle to get used to the new sort of riding, of course!

This morning, DH suggested the bike swap that's coming up the first weekend in March -- he seems to keep forgetting that I'll be out of town that weekend! (Do you NEED a new bike? he asked - my thought, as an inexperienced bike buyer is that probably yes -- or rather the assistance of a knowledgeable bike dealer is more accurate!) Can't tell if he's serious, or if he's pulling my chain...

Two years ago, I did the LRRH on my mountain bike and did what turned out to be 36 miles. I did do 50 miles on my mtn bike in the ULCER later that summer, but I have to admit, I enjoy longer distances on my road bike....

    Finishing time

LRRH was my first century and my ride time was 7.32 hours. So I'm not slow, I'm average. bikerhen

What size are you? I still have my Giant OCR 1 I have to get serious about selling this spring. It's a size small, great entry level road bike, and it knows the LRRH route! bikerHen

Hee hee -- and I get to bring this thread up again too!

BikerHen -- tell me more! He did it again today: hon, there's a bike swap coming up (it was this past weekend, while I was out of town), we could go...

Little did I know, he's actually spent time in a bike shop looking at bikes, talking with bike dudes, giving REAL thought to a road bike for me!

Meanwhile, I'll find out more about my size -- My Specialized Comfort Beast is a size small, but that's not exactly apples to apples!
