I was reading about the LRRH Century on TE on Monday night and, by Tuesday afternoon, I recruited a friend to do it with me. She has done a century before, but this will be my first ever. In fact, I've probably never ridden more than 30 miles at a time. I'm reading Marla Streb's book on training for a century and I went out today with a HRM to hammer up some hills and get my maximum heart rate. My last goal of an athletic nature was to train for the Moab half-marathon a few years ago, and the thought of training for a specific event appeals to me. I bought a new bike late in November before the snow started to fly and I've spent most of the time on the trainer this winter. Doing the hills today was great and I am in love love love with my compact crank. I never loved hills before!
