What is smart wool made of? Does it contain real wool? I ask cuz I am allergic to real wool, so is this stuff a high-tech fiber that works like wool, or is it wool???

It IS wool. Very fine merino wool, carefully combed and knit.

It is MUCH softer than the traditional wool we've been accustomed to for sweaters etc. However it is not far from the wool that makes high-quality suits (as in business suits, men's or women's). If you get itchy from contact with wool, any wool, it probably won't do it for you.

Check out Smartwool or Icebreaker stuff next time you go to a sports store!!

I cracked in our subzero weather here and ordered the Ibex approach tight http://www.ibexwear.com/F06/View_Pro...&CategoryLine=

I ordered an xl so they wouldn't be tight and I coule wear layers under them (I was too cheap to buy the loose tight) I LOVE them! In fact, I rarely took them off all weekend long Yup, I'm a wool weenie....

Yup, I wear mine almost every day now- too comfy!!!
Approach tight tip: instead of getting rid of the annoying drawstring loop and instead of having to tie it and untie it all the time- I first cut the excess loop so that there were two string ends instead, then I tied a tiny knot at the end of each end to keep it from unraveling. Then I found I can just leave the two ends totally untied but pull them snug without tying them and they will stay put nicely all day. No more fumbling in the bathroom! Be sure to lossely knot the drawstring ends together though if you put them in laundry because otherwise a string end might slip inside the waist casing during wash/dry.

There seem to be a lot of Ibex items now on sale that weren't on sale a couple of weeks ago...woolweenies might want to check them out. The Long Trail sweater is now on sale too, as are some gloves. But for some weird reason they have RAISED the sale price of the remaining Approach tights (only left in L and XL) from $60 to $75. Um, what's up with that??
