    be careful out there
A guy in our bike club that lives way up north (bellingham) fell and broke his hip and femur on black ice yesterday! He had hopes of going to France to ride in the PBP Paris Brest Paris 1200 km ride. Now he has hopes of riding in 8-12 weeks.
He's an extra cautious guy but he was in training for the PBP... more will be revealed. Fortunately our ice days are behind us for now.

BSC was actually quite good. Amazing how one day can melt that ice and snow. There was one slick spot, which I avoided by using my mountain bike as a real off road vehicle! (you aren't supposed to ride bikes on the horse trail at BSC).

A lot of walkers/runners out yesterday, getting their fix in. Not too many cyclists though.

Today I am going to Sumner, and hit the Tacoma Orchid Society show and sale at Windmill Gardens. Might ride the bike back from Auburn though.

Bike Expo is the same weekend as this ride.
So, I am hoping it will be Saturday and not sunday because we always volunteer at a booth at the Expo for The Redmond Cycling club.

Whether I ride or not, my bike is still available for Trek.

At this time we're planning to do the Trek To RedHook ride on Saturday Feb 17, in the afternoon between lunch and dinner. (late-ish like that because Trek gets in VERY late friday night.

Mimi, when I looked for info on Bike Expo I could only find something that said it was March 10-11. Am I missing something?

Maybe we could have a TE to BikeExpo event, too! (more bikes, more better!!!)

If I understand it correctly...the "Trek-bike n' bite" is happening on Presidents Day weekend so, no, it won't conflict with Bike Expo, which is on 3/10 & 11, as you noted. I'm volunteering on Saturday morning, so if anyone registers for the STP ride, give me a shout-out, willya?!

And, I'd love to join you all for the Redhook ride, but coincidentally, I'm headed to Trek's neck of the woods during that same (Prez day) weekend, first to Calistoga and then to follow the Tour of California (starts 2/18) for the Bay Area stages, so have tons o' fun, everyone.

This is very odd, the swap meet is definitely on the 18th, ...

I just called the Cascade Bike club. the swap meet is in Feb and the
expo is in March, as everyone has reported!

That might be good or bad... but it's different.
So at least that means our bike ride will not be endangered in any way by the Bike expo.
