    Dear Head,
I know you've been sending hints that I need to slow down, but I'm trying to move us to a more sane place. Did you have to slam me with a nasty migraine going on two days now?? And why did you drag stomach into it?
I still have a to-do list and that includes having some fun with my friends, will you please cooperate tomorrow?

Beth -- moving is stressful. Take good care of yourself! Feel better soon.

    Dear Boss,

You do not understand the technical nature of what I do - nor the amount of blood, sweat, and lack of sleep it is going to take me over the next 4 days to get this nearly impossible task done in time. I know it is not your fault, we have to get the data to the consultant in time to be ready for the huge series of public meetings. It simply has to be done and I will do it. That is why I get paid.

A little more notice would have been nice, but I recognize that you did not know what kind of effort this will require. It sounded simple, but it is far from it. At least you looked guilty when it dawned in you the kind of effort required for me to deliver.

I will, however, not allow this to interfere with my long bike ride this weekend. So who needs sleep? Oh yes, I don't want to hear about how to do quality control, with THIS deadline, there will be no time for it. At all. I like that less than the lack of sleep on the horizon The more tired I become, the greater the chance I make a mistake, and there will be no time for someone to check my work.

I do believe she IS going with grace and dignity. She is an incredible lady, has inspired dozens and dozens of people, and the way she put it just a few weeks ago, she's got an arm lock on that cancer and will drag it to HELL with her.

    To whom it may concern:

    - how do you break up with a friend anyway?
    and
    - why is it so hard to break up with someone who hasn't treated you well?
    and
    - how is it possible to feel relieved and sad and slightly desperate and optimistic and aggrieved all at the same time?

and to the person in question:
    - please have the decency to respond well to my letter, phrased as positively and maturely as I could. I can't stand any more recriminations now, and I do honestly wish you well, whether you believe it or not.

    Dear Tucker,

I know you have a very important schedule every day - play, eat nap, chase Cassie, chitter at the birds, play with the Curlies through the window... etc. You are a very busy big baby. But could we please move the snuggle moment to an earlier time in the day? I really like snuggling with you, but I can't be late to work and I feel so badly every time I have to push you out of my lap.

    Love,

    Your "mom"

    Dear Self,

If you're going to gripe and complain about how painful and difficult it is to insert earrings into your tender, newly-pierced ears and how you never would have done it if you'd known how much fuss it was, please check that you are actually aiming at the hole. Trying to stab an earring through the unbroken skin of your ear, mulitple times, is obviously going to hurt.

yrs, the exasperated rest of you

lph - try putting a little antibiotic ointment on the posts of your earrings. They will slide in easier.

    Shaving

    Dear Bicycling Magazine,

SEVEN pages on shaving your legs??? SEVEN? Seriously? SEVEN pages?

You could shave your legs seven times in the time it takes to read all those words.

Here's how to do it: Acquire razor. Lather area to be shaved with soap or cream of choice. Shave legs. Rinse. Repeat on other leg.
