It seems like we're in a permanant state of tree dodging here in the northwest--and now there is lingering ice on the roads. Winters here have become like the ones we escaped from in Indiana. It Sucks!! My son, who is a cycling commuter out of conscience and out of necessity just slipped on the ice yesterday and bent his derailer pretty badly. $240 to fix it!(including a long overdue tune-up) Yikes! Yeah, Indiana needs to take its weather back too.

Hey, when it was so cold in Flagstaff that the weather channel dude didn't believe it and said "we'll have to check that" - but I knew 'cause it was here - then you KNOW it's cold@!@

FIfteen below... yea, that just might be too cold even for myh commute.

Well, they tell me it's cold here in the PNW. It seems cool but compared to where crazycanuck and I come from. I'm pretty comfy. Having said that, living in weather like I did for most of my life makes you gather all the gear needed for that weahter. I went outside today in my down parka and everyone wanted to know if I was cold. Heck no, I was wearing my down parka. Happy as a clam.

Had to ride indoors today, also a early long IM training ride, 2.5 hours on the trainer. Good thing I like to watch DVDs. I can't wait to get outside. The biggest facto here is that the roads aren't clear of ice. I have all the cold weather gear that I need but I don't want to skid out on the road.

I'm sending good thoughts out to all of you in places where your getting hit with very unusual weather. Try to stay safe. Tucker, I hope everything's under control.

Well, the house made it through the night, and so did hubby! Thanks for sending those vibes! He said he heard a transformer blow up down the street, but our power stayed on.

The roads, strangely, are not icy at all. And there's still no ice on the trees at my dad's house, even though it rained and misted all day and it's 21 degrees. The schools in my town were already closed for MLK day, so that was a blessing. Up north a few towns the schools are closed due to power loss (I guess they don't have MLK day off).

I'm glad for the roads being clear because the baby boy goes back to his parents today. I'm just getting too old to chase a toddler around for more than a few days! I forgot how little one can get done with a toddler around. lol.

Here's hoping the worst of the weather is over for all of you, too.

Oh, you guys made me spit my coffee out I was laughing so much at the "So does this mean that H**L has frozen over?" over comment. I still remember the post card I had hanging on my fridge during most of the time I lived in AZ:
"Tempe Arizona... Home of the Sun Devils; two miles from H**L" (showing a half dead coyote lying on the ground).
Seriously, I remember many mornings in the 30s as I was going to work. It did usually warm up more than you're describing, but it DOES get cold in the valley. Too bad it gets warm more of the time.

Still no snow here in greater Boston. Heavy rain, temperature hovering at 32.9 so no ice.

    Ice Bound

They sent us home from work this afternoon in anticipation of ice. The rain has started coming and we never got above 32 at my house. I think tomorrow will be another day of being home, maybe Wednesday too! I should bake more cookies.
