    Was she riding her new Scott bike or her trusty steel uhm, what was her old bike? Oh right, a Jamis. Of course if it's steel the bike is ok.

    BG -- Best wishes for a speedy recovery!! I fractured my radius a few years ago (wiped out ice skating). One bit of advice---move it as soon as you are able. A lot of folks have problems regaining range-of-motion after breaking elbows. Even though it hurt like the bejezuz, I made myself straighten, rotate, move the joint, as soon as possible. I wasn't in a cast, thank goodness, just a sling---it was a minor break.
