Gee descending today gives me a brain freeze like when I eat ice cream too fast......not that I ever do that of course.

FYI - I just found out today why some Ironmen competitors drill holes into their shoes... for drainage...

    Thoughts from this morning's commute:

    - Hmmm, 9 degrees isn't all that bad.
*Pulls down mask to honk snot rocket*
    - Did I just freeze a rocket to my jacket?!
    - I'm hungry, what's for dinner tonight?
    - Screw dinner, what did I bring for the first breakfast?
    - Gotta switch chain lube, this stuff is like pedaling through honey when its cold.
    - Hey, looky there; frozen road kill.
    - Nuts, my headlight is getting dim.
    - Ooooh, the seat post squeak is gone!
    - I'm hungry.

After getting to work, I found aforementioned snot rocket...on the left side of my pants. Grr!

First spin class in new gym. Spin room has windows that face the free weight area.

    - that guy's sweatpants are hanging beLOW his butt! Does he think those white y-fronts are sexy, or is he gonna pull up his pants?
    - oh, thank goo'ness. he pulled 'em up.
    - "Born to be wiiiiiild" ooh! standing climb sprint and I can even sing along!
    - Did the coach up the volume so as not to hear me sing? He's smiling tho'
    - Ah, top of the hill, on the flat ... "Yesterdaaaay, all my troubles seemed so ..."
    - Wow! Born to be wild took me through my hr ceiling and I didn't even notice til now!
    - Coach keeps saying "Er dere klare?" I'd better listen what dialect he speaks. Oslo that means "Are you ready?" Here it means "Are you tired?" Trysil it means "Are you horny?"
    - Næh. He's from Oslo. Nice piece of eye candy though.
    - ouch. cramp. heel down. wriggle toes. mmm. that's better.
    - circles, circles, up down up down, cadence up, hr down, bump the resistance. there y'are!
    - last interval? do I have another sprint in me? hr at 175, I guess I can sprint another minute.
    - ok. home stretch. up the hill to the marine tech center, then down the hill home. whoo! I'm feeling this hill in my glutes! hot shower is gonna feel soooo goood!
Half-marathon over. Sabbatical year over. It's back to "sacking shirt and oat cakes" as they say here.
