I spent some time today modifying my hammock by sewing buckles onto the straps near the hammock and loops in the strap ends. Now, instead of having 7 feet of strap attached to each end of the hammock, it has short pigtails with buckles. And instead of wrapping straps 3-4 times around the tree and tying a knot, I just girth hitch them and thread them through the buckles. Now I can adjust it easily without retying knots. Here's a picture. The green part is the hammock, the gray part is an overbag that I slide around the hammock after I'm inside to keep my bottomside warm.

It's official, I have a cold. Not a bad one, just one of those nagging "something in the back of my throat and stuffiness" things. Lots of water, juice and tea. And Chicken Noodle Soup with Tapatio hot sauce!

    Snap,
I feel your pain. I have the same thing. My lymph nodes are all swollen. I am at the 'painful scratchy throat' part of my cold. I hope we both get to feeling better soon.

My hot water heater is not working. I absolutely WILL NOT take a cold shower. Good thing there is a shower at work. Not sure if I need to call a plumber or an electrician.

Hey CC - just got back from Oiltown. I WATCHED the jr's beat those Russkies! Yeah! Also saw BC Place on the news - yikes! How are they gonna fix that?! And have they been having a LOT of wind on the coast or what?! More trees down in Stanley Park. Sorry your back is bummed - mine is only just starting to feel better after 6 weeks...

My new claim to fame - future BIL challenged me to take an open oreo, put it on my forehead white side down, and make it "work" it's way down my face to my mouth (usually face muscles only.) I did it! Ta da!

Don't think I can find time to actually read the 4 days of TD posts. Got to go back to work tomorrow... Sigh... See y'all...

PS Yay, BMO, back on bike!

When my parents lived in Santa Rosa their neigbors had a wallabee they had rescued (being neglected at a petting zoo I think). On visits we'd walk to the neighbors to see the wallabee. One day I took Mae and whadya know over the fence there was an inter species moment, the wallabee hopped over and the two touched noses through the fence.

    Friends!

From then on whenever I visited all I needed to say is "want to see the kangaroo?" and Mae would lead us there, look through the fence and her friend would hop over.

I have some photos but they are not very clear of this because of the growth on the fence.

A few years ago I found out that this beautiful animal had been killed by a loose dog. I wrote the neighbors, sent them copies of the pictures and thanked them because their wallabee was one of Maes first friends and helped her. They sent back a very nice note.

Trek - hah! I thought your new avatar title was "Peets, the redwoods, and bridge TROLLS." Remind me to take you to the Troll in Fremont while you're here. Unless you've seen it already...?

No I don't think I've seen the troll, I looked in Norway and didn't see trolls underneath the bridges there.
