Has anyone logged onto Bike Journal today? When I tried to go there a few minutes ago, my internet security program alerted me that it had blocked an attempted attack on my computer from that site. I quickly shut down my internet connection. Now I'm back on, but I'm afraid to access BJ again. Has anyone had a similar experience with BJ today? Anyone have any insight as to how to deal with it?

I also foolishly went over to the site and didn't get any issues (foolish because if your virus/spyware software was correct I would also be setting myself up, too). That said, generally, if you get the warning from your software--that's a good thing--it discovered the problem and recovered for you. The problems come when you visit a site, the site has been compromised and your virus/spy-ware software doesn't catch it.
Sadly, in today's world, it is not inconceivable that sites will become compromised. Just like the bad dudes are out for your machine, it is much more lucrative for them to try to hit a server. Our local bike club's site was compromised last year. The hosting service had a hole and someone got in and installed a bogus home page. The bogus page had an active-x control with an known attack. Normally, I don't allow active x controls to run, but I trusted the site...oops, even sites we trust can become untrustworthy if compromised.
Anyway, while the best thing to do as a human being is to report the compromise to the webmaster, realize that in some cases the innocent, well-meaning person that reports the compromised site to the webmaster has been arrested.
I was just there with no problem. I had the same thing that you described occurring intermittently all day Wednesday on various sites. After rebooting, I didn't have the problem again.

Can someone post a link to the site for me I have never been there. And now that there might be a virus i really want to go. But really I culd use a bike journal to keep me motivated.

Well, I just tried it again after rebooting (figured my software would catch the problem again if necessary), and it does indeed seem like the coast is clear now.
Sorry if this was an unnecessary alarm, but I'd rather be safe, esp. for any of you who don't have internet security software installed. And if you don't, forcryingoutloud, go get some.

Is there an easy way for us to back up our journal to our home computer? I'd hate to lose all my data if soemthine ever went wrong over there.

I too received this message from my virus protection, twice last week. Both times my antivirus program blocked me from the website for 30 minutes after which time I was allowed access to BikeJournal. I'm not sure what the deal is for I visit BikeJournal numerous times throughout the day and 99% this message does not appear. I really don't know what to make of it.
