OTG & AG- I think we may have been passed by Bobby. We got buzzed real hard by a couple of guys on the way out if you recall. One with full CSC gear. Could've been, never know. It stuck in my head cuz that guy was in professional shape and amazing bike but was courteous to us at the same time when passing. I heard he's really cool and personable. Well, I've got his rearview tatooed in my head anyway, so that'll have to be good enough who ever he was.
I want/need to go riding this w/e but it's supposed to get cold and nasty. Besides, I'm waiting for my hitch to come in for my Jeep. (got rid of the ragtop Sebring yesterday!) Will take a week to come in and then I can fit up the bike/kayak rack with my bro. I was measuring out the back of the Jeep last night in the garage to see how I can fit Sweet Pea in until then. I can make it work without too many parts being removed. Just tires I think.
I also want to go out to King of Prussia mall this w/e. Need stuff besides bike stuff. (yup, I said it) Looking a bit homeless these days. Some of my clothes are getting slightly baggy and ill-fitting looking. I know, it's a good thing right?! Still expensive tho. Gonna hit a few of my favorite local consignment shops first. Good thing I didn't have to put any out of pocket money on the Jeep yesterday.

AG - great link, that had me crying right away but good tears for once. I needed that kind of story last night. THANK YOU!

BMo3 - Thanks for the talk last night. I dropped into blissful sleep right after. Very calming night overall. They have been few and far between lately. Can't wait for things to get back to normal soon. Hope you're feeling better today with the flu thing. Remember the cool compresses at the back of the neck, etc... will cool your blood right down and make you feel better quicker. Easier on your nervous system than a cold shower or bath.

Kit - Hope you're driving today. Looks a bit icy there this morning. Sorry, can't help worrying about you.
Thanks for the short but sweet chat last night. (and no crying, wasn't that nice? Making progress. Thanks. Love ya sis.)

CWR - Good luck with the doc today. Don't let him be a pu*s with those feet. Then get out there and enjoy that vacation. Have fun enough for all of us poor shmucks.

Well, I'm sorry I don't have time to address all I've missed. So here's the condensed version.
    I hope...
*the snake keeps the mouse down
*L & J are still honeymoonin' and canoodling
*someone gets to SF real soon
*someone gets their chestnuts roasted the right way
*the WA Ironman is the best ever
*mimi didn't burn her tongue on the double-boiler

    ah lets see... um,
*HP beats Voldemort in the last book and marries Ginny
*Ron and Hermione get together too cuz they're just such a cute couple
*no dudes come in through xray today (or ever) wearing a kilt and no underwear
*the power stays on for KG this time
*BMo3 gets snow before she goes totally insane
*Dar finds a guy worthy of her
*those who have been absent for a while get to hang out a bit more with us, they've been missed
*I make it to the post office by tomorrow or Kit is gonna kill me soon

Ok, I think that's it. Take care and be safe. See ya in a few days. (or sooner I hope) So busy...

I found out what happens if you forget about a bottle of wine in the freezer overnight...(The cork comes out with the foil still on!) Not as bad as one would think- but maybe I just got lucky.

I made a batch of my favorite pasta for my pre-ride breakfast and for after the ride to eat in the truck on the way home. Bowtie pasta, toss with butter, toss with parmesan cheese (lots!) throw in sun-dried tomatoes and capers- YUM!!

I had enough for a cup for lunch, too. Should have just made the whole box.

I also plan on having chocolate milk in the cooler, and Cape Cod Kettle Cooked chips. For after the ride.

you don't have to join to look at the snake photos!

how to bake chestnuts and have them turn out really well:
start with really good chestnuts. Salsa, i can give you some!

I guess if you are patient, cook them slowly. The really good ones that i brought
from Italy were cooked for 24 hours over coals!!

    'Morning all,
Salsa - glad to hear beeper is doing better. Good luck finding an assisted living for your mom. I'm marking my calandar for that party. I'm turning 40 in August if you'd like to make it a surprise, hint, hint

Mimi - quit talking roasted chestnuts - sounds yummy!

Jennifer - hope you're feeling better girl. The flu bug is no fun at all. And it's cold here now but the snow is a little too far south.

Nanci - good luck this weekend. I feel so bad for your daughter. I hope it turns out ok. Any ideas for a good red wine for my mom for Christmas? Not too dry, not too sweet?

X - not sure whats going on but ((hugs)) anyway. Have fun shopping and score on the jeep! I'm getting the car itch myself. I'm pushing 200,000 miles on my Accord and my windshield is starting to crack. Power window doesn't work in the cold, no heated seats are getting to me, etc I want to shop, just a little bit....

KG - trying a new crock pot recipe today?? Hope your power stays on girl.

I talked to my friends sister today. He had a bad day yesterday. His body was fighting the pain meds, kind of like an allergic reaction so he had a hard time breathing and the pain was aweful. They put him on oxygen and finally found a pain med that would work. He finally got a good nights sleep last night and he's off the oxygen. They pulled his chest tube this morning so that also helps him breath better. I would feel better if I could hear his voice but I know he needs his rest. I'm driving down tomorrow to see him. She thinks he'll be ready for visitors then. If not, she'll leave me a message. Please keep him in your prayers for me.

I found Atkins Endulge peanut butter wafers for $.10 each yesterday! They are past their expiration date but taste wonderful! I'm heading back to stock up

    CC - enjoy the Ironman.

OTG - cool on meeting famous people. No such luck on this end.

    Check back later Chicas!

Popping on. Commute today went well, but I suspect I either need to really clean and lube my drive train, or I might've bent the derailleur hanger in the crash. Ugh.

X- it wasn't icy. It was so warm that I was dyin' after 4 miles. mud, mud, mud 'n goo. Nice chat last night AND I think you'd totally love that movie. The effects are SO stop-motion-ish and the story so well-thought-out. loved it. I can't b*tch about the latness of gifts, how tacky, and I'm thankful anyway. thank you!

CWR- are you still alive? Haven't heard even a smartazz comment from you recently...
BMo3- I got your card yesterday! DGF was in tears laughing over it. Really struck a chord. thank you! I'm still thinking about a good xmas cartoon...

that's it. Gotta get to work!

It's a lot easier for a pea-brained pigeon to deal with stuff like that than a smarter parrot. Dill did go through a horrible mutilaiton phase where he was picking the backs of his wings till he had these horrible scabby bleeding lumps. He did that for months- there was nothing to do to stop him except I could wrap him in a towel and then he couldn't do it. A parrot could just chew its way out. I don't know what to tell her. Thousands of dollars of vet bills- she's missed a car payment, her husband is working OT, she says she doesn't feel like interacting with husband or baby-

I told her just give him a week in the collar and see what happens. It sounds like the vet is going to just quit soon no matter what Kelly wants.
OMG that sounds like a terrible situation!! And all that money!!
Here's my humble suggestion: have her buy a little parakeet or cockatiel or lovebird and set it up in a cage right next to the parrot's cage. This will provide a HUGE distraction and lots of entertainment for the parrot, and will take his mind off picking at himself...and get the mirror in his cage! Mirrors work very well too. Do these two things- they are a lot cheaper and easier to try than missing car payments!
I used to raise birds...doves, finches, canaries. And I had an amazon parrot for years.

lisa, I sent her your note. The vet thinks they have the collar adjusted- but he has to stay for the weekend. Apparently one vet thought they should have put the collar on right away and left the at that time still remaining foot parts out in fresh air. The other vet didn't want to traumatize him with the collar, so bandaged it. And it didn't heal, and he had to have another amputation, and now he's chewing his foot off...Kelly sounded better, or at least resigned today.

I'm in a hotel with no power cord for my laptop- the one time I can get a conection...

Nanci and Lisa, your animal knowledge just amazes me!

Looks like Madison only got a couple inches of snow - Lise must have hogged it all! I'll be heading down tomorrow morning.

I'm bored mindless as work. I bought a Christmas present online and a new rain jacket with pit zips on ebay for $25 I need to be busy or I shop at work.....not good. Now I want chocolate and a diet coke

Snow report: We got about 4" down here. Started out very slushy, ended up fluffy. So it looks pretty, but it will be treacherous when the temps drop, as they will tonight. Ice underneath everything.

I went out and walked to do errands--every tree so beautifully coated with heavy snow. It's a good workout, including leaping over slushy puddles at every intersection. Now I'm making stew, and soon bisquits, to take up to J's for dinner. I'll spend tonight there, and he'll spend tomorrow night here.

My Mom is retiring as the head of the Children's Dept at a suburban library at age 71. Tomorrow's her retirement party. She went to library school after my dad died, in 1965. I remember her graduating when I was 8 years old. I've always respected her for that. And now she's at the end of this part of her career. She'll continue to work part time. I think she'll be very, very glad to be done with being an administrator.

B3/Jennifer, I hope you're feeling much better by this evening.

Nanci, have a great ride! I hope Roy can break the cycle, and that Lisa's tips help. That your daughter can get some rest, and connect with her baby and hubby again.

Dar, any progress on the FROG front? Have a good weekend! L.

While you all are snowed under in the midwest and northwest, we're having record warm temperatures here in the east. It's going to start cooling after tonights storm, and we may be some flakes on Monday. But it's been freaky warm the last 3 days. It's 65 right now.

    You all have good weekends.

    Deb, it's coming your way

Lise- have a great weekend. Supper sounds yummy! No update - just keep getting blown off by guys. Off to visit Scott tomorrow then the dance tomorrow night. With any luck, people pc will actually speak with me and fix my connection so I can tell you about it on Sunday. If not, you'll have to wait until Monday.

    Have a great weekend everyone!

Lise: I was thinking of you when the local news showed the snowfall in Chicago. Snow+new beau can be very romantic....in the meadow we will find a snowman...

BMo3: any snow out your way? I hope you're feeling better.

Deb: it was 72F here in Philly last night. I went night hiking with a friend and wore shorts and a sleeveless tee! Tonight, it's still warm, but you might blow away in the 50+wind gusts

I have a match date tonight. This one is a compter geek (he has a job!), runner (athletic!), and avid backpacker (my second love, next to cycling!). And the bonus is that he owns both a road bike and a MTB! I'm not getting my hopes up too much, but we've had some great conversations and he's taking me to dinner and a concert. Pretty ambitious for a first date.

AG: how's his hat wearing skill?

Lise: congrats to your Mom. My Mom also went back to school for her Masters when I was a pup. I was (and am) very proud of her. She's long retired but still volunteers at the local library.

I forget who and where and what page someone wished I had "opened up a can of whoop a##" on the intruder I had Tuesday Night. Impressive and gratifying as that might have been I reflect that nothing I can learn will make me bullet proof Knot hopes to sit in on a class and see me figure out my left foot from my right when next she's down this way.

I got the mutt a new doggie bed, the type that's bowl shaped. I'd read they make dogs feel "more secure" not that the mutt is insecure or anything. Right now she thinks it's one giant squeekie toy and is playing with it. Her previous beds all the "big pillow" style.

Hope she figures out it's a bed

AG: Ooooh, sounds promising. Dinner and a concert? Sweet! I hope it goes well for you. *crosses fingers really hard* I talked to Roy at your LBS and asked him what he thought, and I am going to get the new gearing tomorrow after all. Even thought I might be able to achieve a higher HR with the old gearing, it makes sense to base my training zones on what I'll be training with.

Lise: That's amazing re: your mom. Sounds like a wonderful woman.

    In other news ...
I didn't buy any diet, caffeine-free soda at the grocery store tonight, so I'm officially trying to give that up, too. I only have 1-2 cans a day, but it's going to be a lot harder to give that up for me than caffeine. I bought some caffeine-free green tea.

I'm so glad it's Friday, but it was a loooong day at work. So tonight I'm looking forward to just tidying up a bit and kicking off my shoes and relaxing with some tea.

    Chao!
