hey CC. I've been listening to his music all day. Here's one of my favorites, just for you. Enjoy.

    Somebody To Love

    (Mercury)

Can anybody find me somebody to love
Each morning I get up I die a little
Can barely stand on my feet
Take a look in the mirror and cry
Lord what you're doing to me
I have spent all my years in beliving you
But I just can't get no relief, Lord!
    Somebody, somebody
Can anybody find me somebody to love?

I work hard every day of my life
I work till I ache my bones
At the end I take home my hard earned pay all on my own -
I get down on my kness
    And I start to pray
Till the tears run down from my eyes
    Lord - somebody - somebody
Can anybody find me - somebody to love?

    (He works hard)

    Everyday - I try and I try and I try -
But everybody want to put me down,
    They say I'm goin' crazy
They say I got a lot of water in my brain
    Got no common sence
I got nobody left to believe
    Yeah - Yeah yeah yeah

    Oh Lord
    Somebody - somebody
Can anybody find me somebody to love?

Got no feel, I got no rhythm
I just keep losing my beat
    I'm OK, I'm alright
    Ain't gonna face no defeat
I just gotta get out of this prison cell
Someday I'm gonna be free, Lord!

    Find me somebody to love
Find me somebody to love ... etc.
Can anybody find me somebody to love?
    Oh, that's gonna bruise...
Only the suppressed word is dangerous. ~Ludwig Börne

Dear Religiously Observant Jewish woman who I saw on my ride today,

The various Taliban and the Modesty Squads ain't never going to get you.
There you were in the autumn sunshine riding along the Jordan River trail. Accompanied by your husband, you were wearing a mid-calf black fullish skirt, thick rib-knitted white stockings, a long-sleeved white hoody and a helmet covering your hair - the picture of religious correctness.
I didn't stop to chat because I wanted you to enjoy the ride and not be stopped by me gawking and asking questions.
It was such a glorious day for a ride. I hope I see you again

    from
The woman in the red-and-silver helmet and pretty socks [thanks SS]

All you need is love...la-dee-da-dee-da...all you need is love!

    Dear neighbors,

    STOP STEALING MY SHOES!

I know that I go out to ride my bike at hours most people are sleeping. Therefore, so as not to disturb your beauty rest, I never wear my bike shoes when taking my bike through the condo complex. I know the clop-clop of my cleats would not be a welcome sound before dawn. I don't want to wear just my socks outside because I happen to like my socks and want to keep them around as long as possible. And yes, at 6am the pavement is darn COLD. So, being a good neighbor, I wear my flip-flops out to the complex entrance, park them there and put on my carbon road shoes for the ride.
Imagine my surprise when -- for the third time in the last few months -- I return from my ride and find my flip flops gone!

Folks, I AM NOT THE FLIP FLOP FAIRY. Do you wake up in the morning, go outside with coffee in hand to get the paper and think, "Oh lookie! I've been a good boy/girl so the Flip Flip Fairy left me another treat!" Does it occur to you that they belong to someone else? Does it bother you to wear flip flops my MY name written on them? I'm trying to be quiet and considerate, but you are making that harder and harder.

In the future, I would appreciate it if you kept your hands off my footwear. Or anything else that does not belong to you.
I and my flip flops thank you.

Maybe the next time you leave a pair of flip-flops out, leave an appropriate note under them. Something like "GOTCHA! Don't even THINK about it." Or something....

Good luck - can't imagine why someone would do that!

    Dear Bluetree,

Have you thought of cleat covers? Then you can slip them into your pocket and take them with you. Obviously it will put the flip-flop fairy out of work and your neighbours will have to buy their own shoes, but I am sure they can cope.

    I use these:

Pfft. If they're going to steal the flip flops, all courtesy is off. Wear your bike shoes out the door, noise be damned.

    Dear Contractor,

Hey, thanks for greeting us when we got back from Thanksgiving on the East Coast, with sawdust, pieces of wood and other gunk all over our belongings in the basement dungeon where we're living while you work on our house. Even after we told you eighty million times to make sure your guys didn't trash the tiny living area we have left in the house right now. I LIKE having to spend two hours cleaning up stuff after an East Coast trip. It is kind of hard to shake sawdust out of yarn skeins, not to mention my bike clothes and my computer. Bleah.

    Dear D***'s,
I have never had much success shopping at my local store. Unfortunately the twins wanted UA from Santa. You happen to be the only local store that carries it. And yet your employees continue to looked surprised by the mere mention of the brand. Now, personally when children know all about UA, I would think your employess would as well. FYI, you do carry UA in your store.
So imagine my joy when I learned UA was being sold through your website without sales tax and shipping! Happy Day! I can order the UA Cold Gear gloves for my twins from Santa. See, I knew it was too easy, yet I was trying to be optomistic. I received a confirmation email and was pleasantly surprised at how smoothly everything went.
    *Wait for it*
I just received an email that I ordered an item not yet in stock. Nowhere on your site does it say these are items you do not currently carry. I looked. I went back and looked again. Nope, nothing. Please just get these gloves to me before the 24th! Then we can call it even and I will never ever shop with you again and you will not need to deal with my questions and phone calls.
    FYI-Santa does not leave I.O.U.s

Your continually disgruntled, soon to be ex-shopper.

Or leave the flip flops covered with wadded up kleenex, make sure the kleenex are damp, maybe even a little greenish...

At 5am this morning, I'm driving out to the desert for a race and on the darkened freeway, I see debris ahead of me. I immediately slowed. After all... what is soft debris or hard? Could it damage my car? What was it?

Well... my headlights reach the scene and light it up. They're flip flops! Thousands of them! All over the freeway! Every color and size!

I couldn't stop because I was anxious to check in my bike. However, if anyone else out there is missing flip flops, I recommend going to the eastbound 91 Freeway in Orange County, just east of the 605 intersection.

    Go early for best selection!

So what highway do all those socks that disappear from the dryer wind up on?
Half-marathon over. Sabbatical year over. It's back to "sacking shirt and oat cakes" as they say here.
