How quickly can you get out here?

That's the question to which I woke up this morning. Mr. Sheesh had intended to meet up with his club this morning for a ride, but it seems he missed them. So, he called me to go out and join him.

30 miles along the lake path. The sun was shining, there was a slight breeze (but not the typical Chicago Wind), and it turned out to be a great ride!

What a way to start the day!
    Happy Thanksgiving!

I rode at sunrise before the drizzle/light rain returned (darn coastal low stuck around most of today). It was 43 degrees and the pavement was wet, but I really enjoyed myself. Very peaceful and low trail traffic. Got in 40 miles, despite a strong headwind at times. Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!!!

    Hi everyone,

I'm new here and have not even decided on a bike yet. I'm wondering on average how long does it take you to ride the milage you do ? I'm used to running, not cycling so have no concept of miles vs time or anything to compare it to.

    Thanks !

    The answer is:
    YMMV
I think had about 3 hours. We did some climbing, and there was one lady who was stuggling with the pace

My neighbor and I decided to ride around the University and found some fun dirt pathways all around some new construction in an area that also has not been developed behind the new weather center. Back behind the older area we ran across a huge garden that could not easily be seen from a main road and it had all kinds of varieties of lettuce, greens, peas and other beautiful fall veggies. It was nice to ride in a new found area without others and no cars. Nature at its best.

The hubby and I did an annual "charity" ride put on by one of the local racers. It's a pretty informal thing. The organizer passes around an empty water bottle and everyone donates. The money goes to a local food bank. We all meet at a spot that many a training ride leaves from and do a 30 mile loop. The ride usually stays all together for at least 1/2 of it and we're a pretty cool sight. I'd say there were about 100 of us there, so that means there was probably at least around $500 in the water bottle. It was pretty miserable out today- raining, cold and windy - so around the 1/2 way point lots of people took off to go home or at least go home faster . Its a nice way to socialize with people on other teams that you don't get to talk to all of the time.
