1: Train like hell!!
2: MS Brissie to bay bike ride (50km)
3: Compete in both the GATORADE series and BRIBIE series Triathlon (longer course tris) for 2007-2008
4: Do the Brissie to gold coast for Diabetes (100km)
5: Do the above ride AGAIN for the Amy Gillet Foundation
6: Do 5000km in one year!!!
As the cycling/Tri Season is in full swing here, Most of this stuff won't start until Oct-Dec next year. THIS year my goal is to do the enticers for gatorade series tris and the SHORT Amy Gillet ride (50km) in December.
The brissie to bay though is in April 2007
2006 was my first year biking since I was a kid. In 4 months I've built up to a maximum so far of a 40 mile ride, which I did 3 times. In 2007 I want to be able to do 60 mile rides.
DH and I are hoping to do a modest bed&breakfast bike tour from NY through MA, Vt and NH next year, visiting some friends along the way as well. But maybe we'll start with just a NY/MA 4 day tour and see how that goes first.![]()

I've been looking at the Katy Trail in Missouri as a possible goal for 2007. The little towns are spaced just right to offer accomodations when you want them....and I'm not much into camping, so I really want a nice bed and shower at the end of a day of riding. I'm looking into a couple of 'group rides' that do this trail including Elder Hostel. (Which, by the way, has extensive biking programs all over the world!!!) Ya gotta be 55, though.
Have any of you ever done this trail....or know anyone that has??? I'd be most interested in hearing personal testimonials.
That's one goal. The other is to simply continue to stretch myself in terms of miles and endurance.
Best to all:

I like the way you think, Veronica!![]()
Maureen~ www.stlbiking.com might have some Katy Trail information on it. There's also a message board that might have some people on it that have ridden the trail. I've ridden sections of the Katy Trail~ it's really nice and there are some wineries along it, also!

The most effective way to do it, is to do it.

I found myself thinking about this very subject the other day as I was logging some mindless miles on my trainer. Here is a tentative overview of what I'm shooting for in 2007:
Goals for Giro 20 recumbent:
1. 1500 miles
2. 14.7 mph average speed
Goals for Univega Grand Turismo:
1. 3500 miles
2. 15.7 mph average speed
Overal goals:
1. total miles (road + trainer) 5500 miles
2. host at least 10 rides for the club with one being a century
3. complete 4 centuries
4. log a minimum of 2500 miles with the club
I set the following goals for myself for 2006 :
1. 5000 total miles trainer + road (I've logged 5,300 miles thus far)
2. average overal speed of 15.0 mph (overal average speed 15.02/15.66 on DF)
3. 2000 club miles (logged 2305 thus far)
4. complete 4 centuries (have 3 under my belt thus far)
5. host 10 rides for the club (hosted 10 rides and earned a club jersey)
