I have friends in the UK. It would fit in an envelope for under a $1 US.

Cheers all, precisely the kind of answers I was after.

Now I can bombard this simpleton with a few facts about the US postal system.

    BIG thanks.

The only way it would cost that much to post something of that size is if the mailer were to post by registered mail. Basic cost $7.90 for the registry fee + applicable postage (probably 84 cents, as advised by Nanci). This may or may not be what you want--registered mail is handled by hand only (versus being processed on automated equipment), so the possibility of your decal getting bent is minimal--but otherwise it sounds as if he is trying to charge you excessively for 'handling'.

Also, although USPS does have a 'tiered' system for various global destinations, England (U.K.) is not one of the higher rates. In fact, for something like a decal he probably doesn't even need to go to the trouble of making up a customs declaration (it could be considered 'written matter', and not dutiable).

I would ask him what type of shipping label he is creating that does not allow him the option of airmail letter rate...

Cheers for that, although the guy seems a bit thick, in his own way he is trying to oblige, although slightly missing what I am trying to get through to him:

Sorry for not getting back to you sooner. Since i'm not really sure what it would be or what process i would have to go through to get a lower shipping charge. Lets just leave the shipping charge at whats displayed in the auction/listing. I will take it from there and either gain or lose on the deal, but i will get it to you. Thanks again for your interest. I really appreciate it.

Still, I shall persevere, I do appreciate your comments.

    Cheers.

Thanks guys for your help...............eventually he just popped the decal in an envelope with four stamps on it, not difficult.

    I received this very quickly.

He did seem to be really genuine but just did not understand the simplicity of posting an envelope!

yes. just 3 regular stamps and you can drop it in a mailbox.
if the decal is too big for a std envelope, it can still be mailed without going to a Post oFfice!
