It was a rainy, crappy, cold day when my package arrived from Alaska today. It really made my day and I found myself smiling all morning at the pleasure of receiving a lovely gift out of the blue. Real cycling socks! And the cutest note pad and a snowglobe pen from alaska along with a couple of packets of Carboom. The note enclosed voiced a wish that the socks make me go faster, and there was a message on the bottom of the socks that read: It's never a bad time for a ride. I had actually planned to wimp out today because of the rain, but hey, if it's never a bad day for a ride in Alaska, surely it must be a really good day for a ride here in Washington. Shamed into action by a pair of socks... I decided to take them and the carb boom out on my least favorite trail (least because it is hilly) and see if they could carry me over my evil nemesis hill which is marked with a sign warning of a 9% grade. I don't know if that is actually steep, but it kicks my butt every time, and I must usually dismount in shame, crawling the rest of the way, nursing a side stitch.
But not today!
I managed to make it up the hill without stopping. Still had the side stitch, though, but did manage to retain a modicum of dignity. I place all the credit on the Power of the Socks!
Thank you secret sister! (Chickwhorips)
