I'm actually going to be a RH virgin this year- I've seen it a lot in peoples' houses, but never at a real show. If I live through the 'virgin sacrifice' I'll let you know...
Knot- I had to look it up on Wikipedia to get it... I'll be sure to. =) Rice and confetti, too? How do I carry all these things? I don't expect to have pockets...![]()

I went and looked at some entry level road bikes. If I ever buy one I'm calling it Darth Sidious.

I feel your pain, DD. CWR got me running.Peer pressure, I tell ya...
Geez... this place is sorta like Eugene. After 11, everything's so quiet and dead... until the crazy foreigners start showing up because they're used to their native time zones...
*yawn* workin' 'til 0001 tonight.

I forgot to tell you guys that some $*%&%&%& stole ian's moutain bike on sunday from back of our house. He was all ready to leave but had to go in the house for a sec to grab something and when he returned it was gone.
NOt happy campers. Take our tv, computer etc BUT DON"T TOUCH THE BIKES...grrr..Good thing is it's a small Scott Genius MC 40(full suspension too) with candies and only two bike shops in perth sell Scott's. We've put the word out, told the police etc but who knows where it is now. The person who stole it won't have a clue about how to set up the suspension and is probably wondering how the $*$%*$* to ride it without the proper shoes!!!!
So we had to choose-get a rottie, bazooka, or a sec system..We have a gent from our insurance co coming next week to do an assessment for a sec system.( a bit easier than trying to train a rottie to chew someone's leg!!!)

cwr-where did you go again??? Where in the philippines are you going later this year?
dirt diva-are you in nz or back in the uk? Road bike..what kind?
Snap-when are the stones playing in Vegas? Will you throw mick a kiss and dance for me?
RHPS...i've always wanted to go to a real showing...Will keep my eyes open for one here..
I'm still struggling to find Australian socks for my October SS. I had this ss before and I sent her my choice of cycling socks...HELP!!! Never realized it would be so hard to find a local cycling shirt & socks in oz!!!!

Still in NZ for the immediate future. The bike I have here is good enough for pootling around town and what-have-you, but so very much not up to anything fun. Can't stand it any more! The money I have would certainly not buy something any better than my bike in the UK, probably it would buy me something less good. Can't find anything decent in my sort of size on TradeMe either. I was thinking that perhaps I should head in a different direction entirely and get a road bike. I rode a 2006 SUBzero1 and a 2006 (I think) Dolce (neither of which were on sale yet- 2007 SUBs haven't fully hit the Chch shops yet, but I thought the Spesh stuff had. *shrug*) and a 2007 OCR3. The Dolce felt best "box fresh" fit-wise, but really was just a bit too expensive. The SUB felt a bit cramped and the Giant felt a little long, but they didn't have an XS in stock to compare to and won't until the weekend (no sale bikes there as it's a brand new shop with brand new stock). The first shop had a pretty small looking 2006 OCR3 for a decent price, but I didn't look that closely at or ride that because the guy there only really seemed interested in putting me on WSD bikes. I may have to go back and have a go on it - $596 cheaper than the SUB yet with similar spec...

That money would buy plenty of goodies to go with a bike...

What a long day. Four and a half hour drive down there! The first part of the ride, on the LOST (Lake Okeechobee Scenic Trail) was beautiful- very foggy- full moon- through some sort of swamp with water on either side- saw three alligators! Lots of birds flying out for the morning, lots of anhingas still perched in trees. Wore my Bolero- it was very cool! 70F, I think. Bare feet, still.
Then off the trail and onto roads- but nice roads through a Seminole reservation. 3:45 100k time- not too bad. I was really looking forward to lunch at the 70 mile Control- heard rumors of Subway. Got there- it was Blimpie- but so what. I had a six inch ham and swiss. First time all summer I've felt like real food- it's usually so hot.
6:40 century time- counting the first control and the 30 min lunch stop. Not bad.
Then the northeast corner of the lake- can't actually see the lake, big headwind, horrible pavement, tons of traffic.
Then back onto the LOST Trail for the almost last 30 miles. At first it's a relief. Great views, flying and wading birds, nice breeze. But the breeze turns into a headwind. There is no shade. We get to the point where it is just dragging on. Finally, at a little park, we stop and get off the bikes and lay on the ground for 15 minutes. It feels so good! Only eight miles to go from there. Once we're off the trail, it goes quickly for the last three miles. I get almost taken out by a small dog- I missed hitting him by a foot. I don't think he saw me.
200k time 7:45- I am pleased to have ridden the second 100k in four hours.
Total riding time 8:30, total time 9:30. Average speed 15.8 mph. 132 miles.
I don't _know_ Choco is a boy- I have just decreed him so until proven otherwise.

kit - wow, the memories you are bringing back with RHPS - I am afraid it has been a good 15 years since I saw it in a movie theater.
nancy - your rides always sound so awesome.

God mimi, that's just obscene. Do they have any clue as to who did it? Reminds me of the a$$hat here that terrorized and killed some ducks at our local carwash.
I don't expect we'll ever know. I called there today and no one is getting worse, so maybe all the kitties will heal up.
They are getting A LOT of exposure with their 15 minutes of fame. Their website usually gets 350 hits a day, yesterday there were 2400. If this translates into more cats being adopted, we will all be relieved!
I am sitting in my office looking out at the most beautiful gorgeous day that you can imagine. 65 degrees, sunny, no wind. (oh, a tiny bit of wind!)
CWR- Eh, you pressured me by running and being good at it- so I wanted to try, too.Just wishing I could manage a decent pace and breathe decently, too. All will come with time and effort, eh?
Today feels like a long day. I've been here an hour and it feels like two. Blah.
