Yes. My DH used to buy them before he would go to European conferences. Now he uses his cell phone.

Justin had his cell phone shut off for the tour. Didn't know he could use it, and I don't think it works on that ship anyway. Can you tell me where, what kind of cards he got? I don't even know where to go! Small town ya know! I guess I've sort of lived in a bubble...

Before moving here we lived in a very small town in the middle of nowhere. Of all places True Value Hardwear sold the phone cards. We also had one major shopping center, it was Wal-mart. Anyway, those were the only two major places to shop in town and that is where he would pick them up.

If you look at phone cards, some will specifically say "International". Make certain you look carefully, a costly lesson for me.

Oh, I am sooooooo jealous. I have always wanted to visit Alaska. My dad was stationed up there in WW2. When I was in Jr. High, I read every book I could get my hands on about Alaska. Still haven't made it up there. It's the only place that intrigues me. I have no interest in Europe, or S. America, or anywhere else. My dad and I decided we would take a cruise up there, but it didn't happen and now it's too late...were you born there? Moved there? Land of the Midnight sun...can I stay with you if I visit????? lol.

Sorry for the sidetrack... I have been to Alaska and South America (Chile). I can say that certain parts are VERY similar, awesome glaciers, wildlife, towering mountains, salmon, amazing rivers. Not sure what you think of when you think of S. Am, but there is some majorly beautiful country there. It is absolutely worth a visit.

But by all means visit Alaska too.

You have no idea how I envy you. I really want to visit Alaska. DH had a job offer in Fairbanks and we are still wondering why he did not take it. I hate where I live. It is amazing how just 6 years in the middle of nowhere can change a person's perspective. DH and I loved it and would go back in a second. The only thing I would miss is good medical care.

like i said to uforgot, come up and visit! i love company. and NEED girl time. fairbanks the middle of no where? lol i figured i lived in the middle of no where. i'm more on the outskirts then the middle though. your right, it does change your perspective on life when you live out here. it is hard to get good medical care. the closet dr to me is in anchorage, a 2.5 hr flight away. one of the down falls of living here. there are medivacs if something does get really bad and we have a small clinic.
