I got stuff for _both_ SSs!!!

And Endurox for BF, for $30 shipped for 28 servings! (Can't convert him to choc milk...)

Choco shed sometime last week without me noticing it. I _did_ notice his belly was kind of milky instead of dark choc, but his eyes were clear. I must have picked up on it _after_ he'd gone clear again, a day or two before he shed. Weird- Maizey usually drags it out for a week. I have to make a mini-moist hide for Choco for next time!

Getting packed up for the Okeechobee trip. I'm pretty excited. It's (the ride) 134 miles, not 126. It's supposedly the second largest freshwater lake in the US. I should probably bring something to put a snake in!! And my camera...The drive is 250 by slow roads, or 275 by turnpike.

I tried to make a movie of Choco the other night- it didn't work out.

If you want to see my horrifying Six Gap pic, look under Southeast, Six Gap. I look like I ought to be floating in the Macy's Parade, not riding a bike. Well, it's my own damn fault.

I agree with Pedal Wench, Nanci:
I think anyone who showed up that day is just gorgeous, and in incredible shape.
I remain in awe of all of you who did that ride.

I was just out wandering the yard, checking out the area I saw the fox in last night- yes, there are plums all over the ground.

I discovered my Kumquat tree- my first citrus tree that I was so proud of, that froze back to the ground last winter- has fruit! I was worried that it was a graft on bitter orange root stock, but when it came back, it didn't have the big thorns, so I was hopeful. It flowered a month or so ago- and then I was almost sure I had a new Kumquat growing. Of course, it isn't the pretty little nursery-grown perfectly-pruned specimen tree any more- it's more like a wild bush with multiple leaders- but I am going to wait till spring before I try to fix that. MWBR.

    I have to brag!

My daughter's picture appears in the September issue of the Bulletin of the American Meteorological Society as the recipient of the 2006/2007 DOE Atmospheric Radiation Measurement (ARM) Program Graduate Fellowship. She is starting her PhD work at Harvard in environmental science and engineering, after graduating from MIT with a BS in chemistry. She plans to go into atmospheric chemistry, which is exactly what I do. I know most of the professors she could end up working with. Kind of odd in a way, but I'm very proud of her. The AMS web site only has a list of names of the scholarship recipients, so I can't point you to the article and picture. You'll just have to go find the printed journal if you really want to see it (only 1 ARM recipient, and her last name is different from mine so my ?secret? identity will not be revealed).

Now I will stop bragging and return to my former *modest* self.

Wow Deb! Thanks for sharing the wonderful news with her! I say you should be bursting your buttons with pride, all day, every day! What a lovely thing that she's going into your field, too. Amazing women. Congratulations to her, and to you.

Snap, you SO rock - as do the wonderful Drifters who've donated. Thanks so much you guys. (Real honest to goodness than you notes to follow!)

So Bob Farrar died of leukemia or lymphoma? I am going to run out of space on my running singlet for these names, but it is so important to honor the memory of those who have died from this disease and those (like SK's dad) who continue to struggle. We have a team banner with names of folks we are honoring on it - but I am going to try to do some fabric paint on my event running shirt when I get it.

Lise-I was living a dating life vicariously through you. I am uncertain I can go through the withdrawal. You may be receiving a lot of PMs, although I do like the idea of a mass mailing.

Fidhdr-Happy Last day of work. Soon you will be beginning life at your new job.

Snap-I hope your work situation improves quickly or you are able to retire. I would love a spa day, see even beloved corgis get spa days and I do not. Sigh. Have a wonderful time at the Flea market and let us know what you find.

Annie-I do so hope you are able to keep the rescued cat.

Nanci-Enjoy your Okeechobee trip. We will be expecting details and pictures.
Your rides always inspire me. Did you mention you had your SS gifts? Does this mean I am behind? Performance is having a sale? I will check that out. I have been meaning to ask, do you still have a MN accent? Mine has never disappeared.

Deb-brag away, you have every right. I will ask DH if he read that issue. Very cool. You both should be quite proud.

Sarah-If you are keeping record, I did not put who died. My aunt, Julie Ann Welu, died at age 16 of leukemia. Easter, of all days.

I think I am caught up. I am sorry if I missed something huge. I am going to crawl back to the couch with my tattered quilt and my loving cat.

Thanks for the good wishes today ladies! I'm just now checking TE!

Well - I'm home now from work. Yikes - it was so wierd walking out of work today. I just stood in the doorway of my empty office and looked in for a while. Professionally, I've grown so much here. This was my first real job! I hugged my technician and one of my good friends good-bye - even teared up a bit (to my surprise). My colleagues (and friends) were in a meeting regarding an upcoming meeting with stakeholders (not going to be a fun event), so I didn't get to say my good-byes to them. We did go to lunch, though and I'll see most of them before we actually move, so no biggy. Now - we start getting all of the last minute stuff ready for the movers.

DebW - Super congrats for your daughter! Way cool!

Snap - I hope the package looks good!

    Nanci - cool fox story!

Lise - so how are you going to keep us informed???

MP - I promise I'm trying to find 30 sec to get to your site.

I know, I know. This is a tough one. But, good news! I just googled my full name, and no link to TE appeared! There was a pleasant surprise--a patient I delivered in July wrote about her birth on a yoga website, and spelled my name correctly. How fun. There's a link to an article about a presentation I gave in Springfield three years ago, and a couple of links to race results. There was a link to a submission to my college alumni magazine from 12 years ago. But no TE. Isn't that interesting? Maybe if you went back far enough, but I went through three pages of google, and believe me, after about 5 entries, it wasn't about me anymore, but some other combination of my names. So maybe I'm in the clear. I just have to never type my own full name in here again!

Looking forward to dinner with the S.G. tomorrow.
