Some awesome tips!! I definitely won't go to Walmart or Academy - you all are right - they won't "fit" me with the bike the right way - didn't really think about that

If I bought a roadie, I am sure it won't take long (the LBS guys said 5 rides and I'm good) and I'll be comfy on it, but the timid first timer in me is trying to take the "easy" way - baby steps! But it's a lot of money for something to "practice" on.....FWIW, the LBS guy said the one I was trying was too big for me anyway (the size I need they dont have, but one of their employees does and she is bringing it up for me to tomorrow to try)

Anyway, if I do decide to do a hybrid first, I will go lower end. But I will definitely try more styles/types, etc before I buy ANYTHING. I am anxious to start but don't want to make a hasty decision.

I couldn't take that $5 virtual bet b/c I am pretty sure you will win!!! LOL
