I've been wracking my brain over this, because I'm really not very tuned to smells except as things to be avoided most of the time. Maybe I'm missing the gene for olfactory appreciation. But I do like the smell of
Balsam fir in the mountains of New England.
I also like the smell of bike grease and WD-40, but when the smell has been on my hands for 24 hours I've had enough.
Wet wool clothing has a smell that reminds you that you'll be warm even when wet, but other than the practical value it's not that good of a smell IMO.
Oil is good, grease is better.
