The reason I said I'd "spare it" was b/c I made the faux pas of telling my mom "Congratulations!" ...she didn't get it, so I tried to explain (Mom being a good, "normal", midwestern woman) and the moment the word crone left my little mouth, h*ll broke loose, and it took a long, long time to assure her that it was an 'ok' if not 'good' thing "over here"

In truth, I had all the symtoms years ago; but my doctor refused to believe a woman in her late thirties could be perimenopausal, let alone menopausal. The old coot.

So, Snap, how was the diagnosis made? FSH? I'm on continuous NuvaRing (essentially the same as bc pills). I have hot flashes, I'm 46. It's not contraception I'm worried about, but my ovulation and periods coming back. They are both so painful. I think I'll continue using the ring until I'm 60.

Congrats to you, though. Lots of rituals and ceremonies out there to celebrate your passage to crone-dom. I even saw that Susun Weed has a new menopause book out. Oh, it's good to have been born at the end of the baby boom!

Feel like a major stud, cuz I switched out the pedals on the Kona. Took off the Frogs, put the flats back on for SKnot. Got to play with a big wrench and some grease.

Have a screw in one of my car tires. SKnot enjoyed making puns on that... Tire hasn't gone flat yet. Hope it hangs in there until I can get it fixed. This messes with my plans of going to the bank and getting the Waterford tomorrow. Sigh.

Good news on the Pilates studio - the two women I work with and I will be going to our teacher's other studio, continuing our circuit trio. They have to finish out their sessions with the old place, so I'm on my own for a couple of months.

What you can do to take care of the tire without screwing (har har) with Les Schwab, et all, (Assuming this is a tubeless tire. I have never dealt with a tubed car tire but weird stuff happens) bike to a GI Joes, Schucks or Auto Zone, and grab a patch kit. Should be a thingum that looks like a T with a needle-nose with a hole in the middle at the end of the T, and there'll probably be a rat-tail rasp with it... and then 4-5 4" long brown 'patches'. Kit is roughly $8, I think, but $8 to fix 4+ flats and the knowledge that you can do so is totally worth it.

The directions are there, but I'll post something like 'em...
Jack car up, use tire iron to remove lugs, pop tire off. Deflate tire. Locate screw. Remove screw. Use rattail rasp to even out the hole, use T shaped thingum with patch threaded through to push patch through hole (all the way) and then pull back out partway. Snip just about 1/2" above tread. Put tire back on, making lugs about finger-tight. Hit tire with heel of hand to make sure it's settled evenly, then tighten down evenly with iron. Inflate the tire, lower car, remove jack, feel like total car stud.

For anything less, I generally just use Tire Slime... but I run my car with Slime always in. For some weird reason, the little thin racing tires got slow leaks until I put it in, now no problem.
