The only part that I find even slightly scary is the area between the Guy West Bridge and Discovery Park, and unfortunately that is the part that is near me. Not all of that stretch is scary, exactly, but I would not like to be fixing a flat alone out there. And even on the bike, I once had someone step in front of me like he was trying to force me to stop on the 19th Street bridge, and we have seen guys walking around carrying hammers and crowbars out there. I don't ride that alone, which really bums me out, but I just don't feel like it's safe.

You'll avoid that section, though, if you just go straight on to Discovery Park. It's really our little connector to the trail that is the worst part. It sucks because that is three blocks from our house, but most of the time we wind up riding from Sac State, instead.
