I'm grumpy. I have to bring my bike back to the LBS in SF, my doofus LBS close to town installed a cassette and didn't adjust anything. I really need to find better mechanic close to home. (or learn to do this myself)

Hey, we haven't had any word from spazzdog lately. What's spazzdog doing? Last we heard you were ordering bras... Are you still doin' that? Can we help???

Did they change the chain as well? Is it the same size cassette as you had before?

    Peanut butter ice cream.......

Oh, right, the cassette. Sorry to discuss cycling, but now that I have...
I have a Bianchi Veloce with a triple chain ring. I bought a 13-29 cassette to replace the stock 12-25. The manager of the LBS is kind of a character. Or a lunatic, depending on how honest I'm feeling. I was there with my bike to pick up the cassette and he told me emphatically that I'd need a new rear derailleur. I was pretty sure this was not true, and since he was going on and on about how many years he's been a bike mechanic, I put 2 & 2 together and said, "I'll just take the cassette, nevermind my bike." He grabbed the bike and put it on the stand and proceeded to change the cassette. So much for my escape. Anyway, of course it shifted fine. That was enough for him, and I've learned that I don't care for this man, so that was enough for me, too.

My other deal is that I'm coming out of denial about having pains in my back, in between my shoulder blades. I thought they'd go away after riding more - like it's a beginner's thing. So I would benefit from another fitting exercise, and I figure my best bet (and cheapest one) is to back to the store in SF. I may need to raise the handlebars or something. Then maybe I'll have a nice ride around the city, which is my original stomping ground.

Sweet! Chocolate, wine, food...any or all of the above - now that would work! As far as I know, Tuesday is the only day that is tied up for me. I get into the airport on Saturday around 11:30am. Ooh this is going to be fun!

CC - Reese's peanut butter cups hit a happy spot, don't they? Yummmmm. And (for once) I don't have any dessert in the house! Aargh! I need to make some ice cream.

Well if it's any consolation, he was probably right about needing a long cage derailleur. Since he grabbed it from you, did you have to pay for installation?

Dachshund - there is a bay area guy who I think is the bicycle fit god, Curtis Cramblet. He's fit many of the folks who did the AIDs rides/LifeCycle rides. He's a coach, Physical Therapist, bike fit guru, all around good guy. Offices in San Jose or Oakland.

Wish I could join you guys!

As it's 94 degrees here at 10PM, I have decided: NO running tomorrow. NO riding tomorrow.

I saw the energy healer today. I told her I've been having trouble staying asleep, and having times when it feels like my heart's going to beat out of my chest. She assessed me and told me that the chi in my kidney meridian is very low. She recommended I don't do the tri on 8/20. ...pause... yeah, like that's going to happen. I told her I'm doing the tri, but that I'd be willing to ease up on the training. Heck, it won't improve my times if I'm totally burnt out when I get there.

She suggested some herbal remedies, and gave me some techniques for mobilizing energy in my body. I am verrrry Western in a lot of my approach to health, but I've got a window of openness to other perspectives. What the heck.

I don't even feel like I'm training all that much, but in combination with my goof-ball work hours, I can see the problem. Tomorrow, for example, working an 8 hour clinic, 5 hours off, then a 12 hour call shift. To me it makes sense to run in the 90 degree heat, then ride my bike to and from the clinic, but...maybe I'm a doofus! So, easing up, conserving energy, getting some sleep, being ready for the day when I go all out.

Today is the first time in quite a while I've felt like I had any energy. I buzzed around work, cleaned up my computer room, got a couple of projects just about finished. I went to Pilates tonight - man! CORE OF STEEL! Short spine, long spine, monkey - whatever our teacher threw at us, I did it with glee - and MAJOR power.

I love it when I have good days.

Whoa, somehow I missed this one. So-rry to hear it, MP. That sucks. Butt will be kicked. It will be hers.

I also meant to say that I thought about Nanci riding her brevets in the Florida heat when I was out there today. I do not know how you did it.

Snap--glad you had a good day! That feels like a million bucks.

Snap - glad to hear you had a good day! More will come (and I guess MWBR)

Revel in the good days - they'll help get you through the bad days.
