I was concerned beginning that third lap too. I knew that if I took it easy I could finish but that if I pushed too hard ignoring the physical symptoms I was experiencing, that I would be putting myself in serious jeopardy of a DNF. I felt like my motto that afternoon was "weebles wobble but they don't fall down!"
This week I was laying on the beach enjoying a nice picnic with my friends and DH, having a good conversation and watching the kiddos splash around—and somehow nodding and agreeing to do LJ100 again next year AND putting in for the Leadville 100 lottery as a team! EGADS!
There is this threshold, the nearer you get to it the more you detest your mountain bike. And then you find yourself crossing over to the dark side and you can't get enough. I now live on the dark side.
