Well, after all the hemming and hawing and even trying it out, I decided not to join the Masters after all. The M,W 8:30-9:30pm time is tough for me and I just wasn't sure it would work out. I am pretty disciplined so I decided to follow the plans from the Swimplan website for awhile an then take another lesson or two to touch base with a coach in a month. This way, I can go at my own speed, work on whatever I want to. Although I enjoyed the masters night and can definitely see the benefits, I also realized that they are far too busy to give me much, if any, one on one coaching. Not once did anyone correct my stroke, which is the main reason I want to go. If no one is going to correct me, I may as well swim on my own.
So today, I basically followed this plan. The ~ are extras I did on my own.
45-50 minutes, 1300m
Warm up
~ 4 X 25m kickboard
• 4 x 25m Any Stroke (even pace), rest 0:10 / 25m
Build up (repeat 4 times)
• 1 x 25m Single Arm (arm out front) 6 x left, 6 x right, 6 x full stroke, rest 0:10 / 25m
• 1 x 25m Freestyle Catch Up, rest 0:10 / 25m
Core
• 4 x 50m Freestyle Swim, leave on 01:45 / 50m
• 4 x 50m Freestyle Swim, leave on 01:40 / 50m
• 4 x 50m Freestyle Swim, leave on 01:35 / 50m
Warm down
• 2 x 50m Freestyle Push & Glide, rest 0:15 / 50m
Then because I still had time:
~ 2 x 25m breast stroke (maybe 4, can't remember)
~ 2 X 25m backstroke
~ 4 X 25m freestyle
