I was just on the trainer in the cold dark basement :|. The princess was using my laptop so I couldn't watch any movies or tv or anything. My laptop is networked into the recorded TV, one of the perks of being married to major computer geek.
Looking for something to help pass the time, I popped on my headphones and dialed up my regular cardio playlist that I use when I'm on the eliptical or some such thing. I have never done this before b/c I'm usually using a Spinervals dvd or watching something.
It was great! I think I sweat more than during my spinervals workouts, the time whizzed by and I realized I should do it more often.
Anyway, to the point of this thread. I never use headphones while riding. I've seen this thread on other forums and there seems to be a split of opinions. I admit I've tried it on some quiet mornings thinking all would be well but ended up ditching them after just a few miles because I was afraid I couldn't hear anything but the music.
The thing is, I see a LOT of roadies wearing ipods. There is a community college about a half mile from my house and it is a very popular starting spot for cyclists. They leave the campus and head towards the water passing right along my street. On weekends, I'll see 25 - 30 cyclists a day and I have to say many, many of them have headphones on.
