Great photos - great riding. You guys are tough doing climbs in that temperature. When I finished my ride around lunch my computer said it was 36 degrees C (about 97 degrees F) I cant imagine riding hills in that.
WELL DONE ALL OF YOU.![]()

JoBob- thanks for the excellent pics! Our very own ride photographer! I too didn't realize how hard you worked to get up to the Junction Cafe- but....you did and that was what counted! Good job!!!!!
We'll do the ride in the fall when the temps are cooler- that's when I did it with Glen- just the two of us went- and it was a screamer going down!

My first thought when I saw that last photo was "That looks like a CalTrans job!"
(that was a popular line when I worked doing contract archaeology for CalTrans. That's about the right ratio of folks standing around with hands on hips to folks actually working! No offense intended to anyone who works for CalTrans! The joke could just as well to most of the digs I worked on - same ratio of "dig bums" [usually un(der)paid students] to supervisors!)
Um, did anyone get a photo of the scenic rear?

Jobob, I apologize if I in any way influenced your decision to do the ride by my request for the company of non-Amazon women riders. As a non-Amazon, I was pretty much dying on the "descent" - I usually have a horrible time with hot headwinds - and was worrying about you and Patric. At several points I was dreaming of the possibility of the fast people coming back in their cars to get us
.
What actual downhill there was I didn't enjoy either. My new Mavic wheels are too stiff for that kind of road surface - I was getting thrown all over the place, and didn't feel like I was the one in control of the bike.
When I mentioned to my mother in Phoenix that I'd been out riding in a Phoenix-like heat, she responded that in Phoenix they knew better than to do stuff like this - in other words, "you guys must be dummies".
It was a fun ride, and thanks BG for organizing it.
Ah. I forgot, Kim, that your Morgan Territory experience was the nasty hot headwind on the other side from where I was suffering on the airless, hot climb. Hot headwinds are my daily life.

Well... I lost ANOTHER pound on yesterday's ride! A few more pounds off me and I'll need to start seriously thinking about lightening up Fluffy some more.
And - I sunburnt my back.SK, I hope you don't mind slathering sunscreen on me on Saturday.

Nope, not a problem. You sure you aren't dehydrated today? I've been powering down the water. All other signs were good but I'm feeling dehydrated. That first hot ride and even the descent was hard work.

Oh - I'm definitely dehydrated. Woke up at 3:30 with the classic headache. But that pound is staying away! I'm heading out now to meet Thom at BART.

I drank 5 bottles total on the ride, and was pounding the water today. Reminder to drink a LOT this week to "pre-hydrate" before Davis...

I've been informed that it is Dr. Bubba's own personal TARDIS so the rest of us are doomed to embarrassing pictures of puzzlement and ineptitude.Originally Posted by maillotpois

The trick to mine is to have the zipper on the opposite side from where you want to fold it.

Close. Knit it himself but only in a very attorney-like gray during a Xmas visit to his mom's. Didn't realize how much garter stitch would grow.![]()
