    What's Your Favorite Hill Song?

    To disable ads, please log-in.

When climbing hills I like to think of a good song to sing in my head. Old McDonald Has a Farm is all I could think of the other day!!!!! I end up just saying "Yes I Can, Yes I Can". (And I did!)

I really need a new song! Any ideas? What helps you ladies up those hills?

Lyle Lovett: Long Tall Texan. It has the perfect cadence for me.

Fair Exchange by Be Bob Deluxe

Now Venus De Milo a statue of note
She lays in the gutter, with a knife in her throat
Naked as sin no, not even a coat
She gave you a thrill so you gave her a grope
    It's a fair exchange

I don't know what the name is, but it goes "bring me little water Sylvie, bring me little water now...bring it in a bucket Sylvie, bring it in a bucket now...every little once and a while"

It's on an old movie soundtrack CD that I have -zydeco music - movie with Dennis Quaid, New Orleans detective, beautiful blond DA, corrupt cops, can't remember the name.

    The Big Easy

I'm not familiar with that song, but the movie is The Big Easy, with Dennis Quaid and Ellen Barkin. Great zydeco music.

I can't say anything about that. Occasionally when I am working hard I start thinking about the song "Saint James Infirmary Blues"...

Generally, however, I am just focusing on the top of that hill. Or the next stick, bump in the road, whatever I choose to focus on. Occasionally accompanied with the refrain "youcandoityoucandoityoucandoit" (just like that. I like the idea of a song though...

Any traditional bagpipe tune but it must be the Great Highland Pipes not the wussy parlor ones and definitely not Amazing Grace.

I once did a very hilly 30-mile ride while singing the "Ice Cream and Cake and Cake" song from a Baskin Robbins commercial.

I also once did half a Livestrong Challenge singing my college fight song (Fight on, Pennsylvania, get that ball across the line. Fight, you Pennsylvanians, there it goes across this time. Red and Blue, we're with you, and we're cheering for your men. So it's fight, fight, fight, Pennsylvan-i-a, fight on for Penn.) This started after saw a cyclist wearing a jersey with the Penn Hospital logo on it.
