Mom is still in the hospital, almost a month after we took her there While there are hopeful signs after the new lung surgery last week, she seems to be slipping into a depression. Quite understandable, but I hope we can get her spirits back up. I do wish I could have gone down there for the holiday weekend but just couldn't make the trip.

My dad is back in the hospital after four days home from the SNF. This is all triggering me so bad I can barely get off the couch.

    Dear Neck,

Please calm down. I know you don't like me to sit for long periods, the doctor explained that sitting still is rather hard on the neck (who knew?). However, I need to pay the bills, part of which you are responsible for, and that requires me to spend my working day in front of a computer. I also can't get drowsy, so that limits the muscle relaxers I can take. So cut out the muscle spasms already.
    Thank you!

    The rest of the body

((((Oak and Catrin)))). I'm so sorry for all the things you (and others on TE) are going through right now.

Dear guy idling his truck outside my office:

That truck is really obnoxiously loud. And I'm sure you know that, since you're sitting in it. You're also wasting gas.

Maybe you should think about someone besides yourself and turn the stinkin truck off, since you've sitting idling for at least 10-15 minutes? I doubt the restaurant patrons (who are closer than I am) are enjoying listening to it either.

    Sincerely,
Back in the office and cranky.

Combo of both? The holidays can/are difficult. Add to it the illness of a loved one, it at least triples in difficulty.

It was a year ago my dad started to get sick. I'm having a difficult time getting out of bed, mornings are the hardest.

((((Snap)))). I thought of this the other day and wondered how you were doing with the holidays. I'm so sorry.

I think it is tough times, I have more friends and family with terrible health problems than I think I've ever seen at the same time... It may just seem that way...

I have more friends with serious illnesses these days as well. But I think a large part of it is because me and my immediate friends and family are all getting older. As an example- My daughters (early 30's) were here for thanksgiving and they were remarking that so many of their friends were having babies these days. Meanwhile, none of my age friends are having babies, but many are getting heart bypasses, hip replacements, cancer, etc.

    Dear Breast Center Nurse,

Please don't call again until you have results. I know you were just trying to be nice, but it's not really helpful. I wasn't even thinking about it until now.

I swear, people who work in hospitals can be clueless.

    Dear cough,

Other people have way more serious stuff going on, so just stop already. No one wants to hear it, and hurting my back was really going too far.
Each day is a gift, that's why it is called the present.
