    Worth the 3 month wait!

I finally rode my bike outdoors. It was not a long ride (20 miles) or a fast ride (mostly because the handling is a LOT more responsive and every little movement of my handlebars would have me veering off to one side--I will become accustomed to this after a few rides). And it was colder than any previous outdoor ride (the faster I went, the colder I felt).

It wasn't the best ride ever...but it was amazing, nonetheless. My previous bike was aluminum and buzzed me to death on our chip-sealed roads. The new bike is all carbon and it absorbs so much of the vibrations...felt like buttah. And it corners like a dream. I should be able to take corners a lot faster, now (they always felt sloppy with the old bike--going into them with any amount of speed was hairy).

We still need to tweak a few fit things, just minor stuff. On the trainer my reach always felt almost a little long, but on the road I'm finding the opposite to be true. We can move my seat back a bit, but I may be looking at a longer stem. I think the current one is only 80mm, so 90-100 may be a better fit for me.

I can't wait to ride without 10#s of clothing on! 35 degrees is still FAR from warm. But it's nice to not have ice and slop on the roads.

This is the one advantage to living in a BFE community--they don't plow more than once/week and only after 6" or more of snow (hence the bad@ss snow tires on my car). Only the primary roads are salted/sanded...and some corners. So there's not a huge amount of salt or sand to deal with. Most debris is random bits of gravel that have been scraped-up from the shoulders on the rare occasions that they do plow.

Funny you mention this...I've been thinking my next set of tires should be blue. My hubby really likes those Contis, too.

I hope so, too. How crazy is this...friends of ours were looking to buy a new 2011 Cannondale Synapse for their son. Apparently Cannondale is completely out. It almost sounded like they weren't going to make more for 2011 (which seems crazy, but maybe that's how the industry works...? ). I think they ended up finding a 2009 or 2010 in-stock somewhere. When I got my previous bike (a 2010 WSD Synapse) we ordered in the Fall and waited a LONG time. I had originally wanted a compact, but ended up settling for a triple, since Cdale had one sitting in the warehouse in my size.

I had a MUCH faster delivery experience on my current bike (less than a week from when it was ordered to when we had it in our possession, IIRC). I think in large part because my new bike is a men's frame in a small size--less demand than my women's frame in a relatively average women's size (48cm).

Feral, that is one hot, fast-looking bike! How do you keep that white tape so white?

Sweet! I have a SuperSix, too. Here's a picture of her. I LOVE my bike! Yes ... very smooth feel. I had a CAAD9 aluminum frame before and couldn't believe the difference when I rode hubby's SuperSix around the block. Tried not to be eternally jealous, but eventually I got one.

    Congrats on your new baby!
