((SPOKE)) I am so sad and angry for you. My own father had stage 2/3 (it was on the edge) colon cancer when caught and treated. Hopefully her prognosis will be good as well. Be angry, then be there for her and your husband.

Well, some of you may remember that last year, my brother in law (Sister's hubby) and my other brother in law (Hubby's sister's husband) both passed away within 4 months of each other of colon cancer.
Now, Hubby's sister has been diagnosed with colon cancer! We do not know how advanced it is yet; both brother in laws were in stage 4 when it was found.
I'm just devastated. I cannot even imagine what Hubby's sister is feeling; after losing her husband only a few months ago. I don't even know how to verbalize this Cancer thing anymore. I am so sad and angry

Oh my word. I'm speechless. Sad and angry probably is only the tip of the iceberg for your family.

Spoke, I'm so sorry. This is far more than any family or person should have to deal with. I certainly hope the prognosis is good.

Wow, that's an awful lot for one family to have to bear. I'm so sorry!
I hope her pronosis turns out to be a good one.

Spoke - I went through a period like this that lasted years... first my father died of cancer, then my uncle one month later, then my mother had a heart attack one month after that... we got through that then another uncle was diagnosed with colon cancer (he survived and is doing very well 5 years later) and my mom was diagnosed with cervical cancer, my aunt died of lung cancer, I had to put my dog down and my grandmother died from pneumonia (all that happened withing 6 months)... Then few years later, more cancers more surgeries more family members very close to death. It's a very hard thing to deal with and my heart goes out to you. But it is possible to get through it all and come out the other side a happy and stronger person. (((((((Hugs)))))). Take care of yourself.

Thanks everyone for your thoughts - I'm just feeling overwhelmed by this news right now. I am going to have faith that this new cancer fight will be a successful one; and take it a day at a time.
Wahine: After reading your struggle, I am saddened that you have had to live with all these tragedies and so close together.
I can only hope that life will get a little easier and be more hopeful for all of us in the future.

Wow! That is tragic news. I hope that they have caught it early! My mother had colon cancer surgery last Wednesday and we just found out on Monday that it was cured with surgery! She had it done laparascopically, which is a MUCH BETTER way to go if the cancer is limited. The recovery time is faster and they are often able to recover more lymph nodes because the visualization is better. Feel free to PM me if you want to talk about this more.
My family is incredibly relieved! We have been through a number of health crises ourselves. My father nearly died before he got a liver transplant last year. Sometimes, it just seems like you draw a bad card, doesn't it? Thankfully, my Dad is doing great and it looks like my mother will do well, too. Hope and prayers and friends go a long way to getting you through times likes these.
I'm glad to hear that your Mom's colon cancer was not very far advanced and they were able to get to it with surgery. Please keep vigilant for her since it can come back and she will need to have tests done frequently to make sure she catches it in time again! Since we just had two men in our family die of colon cancer, we are all pretty well educated about the treatments and surgeries. It's amazing what you learn from direct contact with this disease. Thanks for the offer of help and if I need some input, I will surely PM you.
Oh, that's just terrible. I'm sorry. I hope her outcome is better.
