Karen, there will be far more knowledgeable people here than me but maybe it's a bike fit thing? Maybe your stem should be raised a bit until you work into it? I get that soreness too but it isn't that bad.
The forearms though? Ooooh do I know about that oneI am the weeniest of the weenies when it comes to downhills. There are times downhills hurt more than uphills!!!



And that hurt lingers. It's, you know, that tensed up ache thing, and I was thinking that I need to learn to keep shoulders back and down and then I wouldn't do that pain to myself when I'm riding!
