Cool LISE!! You can have your weather back!!!

Ok, so since when did Phoenix become the new Chicago??!! Yesterday we actually had a WIND CHILL FACTOR! When I checked the weather lastnight at 10:00 it was 30- feels like 21.... OY!
This morning I woke to the local weather station (less than a mile from the house) reading 22 degrees!!! YIPES!
And today was to be my first "long ride" of my IMAZ build...sigh...
So I waited until 1:00 pm when it warmed to the whopping 40 degrees to set out. I put on every warm fuzzy cold weather type thingy I had, and I STILL froze like a popsicle!! I had one of those ear warmer thingys on and even though part of it went over my forehead I actually got an ICE CREAM HEADACHE as soon as I set out. I also had a neck gaitor pulled up over my nose and mouth because the cold air was hurting my lungs. The only cold weather pants I have are nickers, so I had some exposed leg. My sidis are also of the tri persuassion so they have holes everywhere. I have toe covers, but clearly I needed the full shoe kind.
Basically I FROZE for 2 hours and called it a day.
So now I'll be looking for some heavy duty tights and other assorted cold weather clothes. Esp. since it seems apparent that Phoenix is the new Chicago.... OY...
    And on we go!
    Denise
Oh- and I passed the husband headed out on a mtn bike ride when I was coming in. He lasted less than 10 minutes out there. HA! So I'm not the only weather weenie!!!
I tell you, there is a REASON I moved to Arizona! I need HEAT people! I need HEAT!!!
    - which of course I had on the marathon last weekend! Sheesh this has been a week of extremes for me hasn't it??!!

Phoenix cold??? Weird! I checked the temp in Tucson this morning (just because I love the city so) and it was 28. What the ????????
As I'm sitting here, we've been iced in for 3 days. Winter bites!! I hate cold, I hate wind, and I hate cold (have I said that already). And it's not like I'm gonna get my butt on a trainer for an hour or two- I'd rather punch myself in the face for an hour.
Good job on doing a 2 hour freezer ride, girl! I'm proud of you!
And I'm sending hot vibes your way (but only if you promise to return them to me and melt this *@#$% ice). At least we haven't lost power..... yet.

    Stay warm iron woman!

Ugh!! It is cold in Texas. And why does it wait until the weekend to blow in? This is the only time I have to ride my bike. Is it some kind of conspiracy to keep my bike from having 100 miles on it? ARGH!

    Forecast is ice tonight. Yuck.

    My hopes are dashed!

I've been dreaming of moving to Arizona because it's supposed to be warm year-round. You all have just dashed my hopes. I guess I might as well stay here in the windy city.

It's way cold in San Jose too, and a friend in San Diego said they had snow yesterday.

    Make it stop. Please.

It's just cold enough for the rain to turn to ice at my house. That tree fell from the neighbor's yard, and the tree next to it fell the opposite way and crushed her carport with her car inside. That's the second story deck that leads from my son's bedroom. Thankfully, the house itself is okay, but the house is surrounded by trees, and they're all covered in ice.

I've taken my visiting baby grandson and my son and fled to my dad's house, while dh is staying to keep an eye on things. Tonight is supposed to be worse--more rain and colder. Hope he doesn't get crushed by a tree. eeek.

It seems like we're in a permanant state of tree dodging here in the northwest--and now there is lingering ice on the roads. Winters here have become like the ones we escaped from in Indiana. It Sucks!! My son, who is a cycling commuter out of conscience and out of necessity just slipped on the ice yesterday and bent his derailer pretty badly. $240 to fix it!(including a long overdue tune-up) Yikes! Yeah, Indiana needs to take its weather back too.

FIfteen below... yea, that just might be too cold even for myh commute.

Well, they tell me it's cold here in the PNW. It seems cool but compared to where crazycanuck and I come from. I'm pretty comfy. Having said that, living in weather like I did for most of my life makes you gather all the gear needed for that weahter. I went outside today in my down parka and everyone wanted to know if I was cold. Heck no, I was wearing my down parka. Happy as a clam.

Had to ride indoors today, also a early long IM training ride, 2.5 hours on the trainer. Good thing I like to watch DVDs. I can't wait to get outside. The biggest facto here is that the roads aren't clear of ice. I have all the cold weather gear that I need but I don't want to skid out on the road.

I'm sending good thoughts out to all of you in places where your getting hit with very unusual weather. Try to stay safe. Tucker, I hope everything's under control.

Well, the house made it through the night, and so did hubby! Thanks for sending those vibes! He said he heard a transformer blow up down the street, but our power stayed on.

The roads, strangely, are not icy at all. And there's still no ice on the trees at my dad's house, even though it rained and misted all day and it's 21 degrees. The schools in my town were already closed for MLK day, so that was a blessing. Up north a few towns the schools are closed due to power loss (I guess they don't have MLK day off).

I'm glad for the roads being clear because the baby boy goes back to his parents today. I'm just getting too old to chase a toddler around for more than a few days! I forgot how little one can get done with a toddler around. lol.

Here's hoping the worst of the weather is over for all of you, too.

    Karen
