Well, you are handling the most important part of the ride as far as I'm concerned!

From what I've heard this is a very popular ride. The folks over on the bike journal have a thread in the forum about this ride. (www.bikejournal.com).
Drink, drink, drink. Don't forget to eat, but eat often rather than just at the rest stop. My understanding is that if you drink or eat/drink something every half hour, you'll have more energy for the entire ride.
I use Jelly Belly Sportbeans for my electrolyte replacement. They work well as do Endurolytes. If you REALLY get in a pinch, ordinary table salt will stop cramps. I always carry a little bag with salts I pick up at fast food spots.
Have a great ride. We'll be anxious to hear your report!![]()

I carry 2 Polar water bottles and a Camelbak. I like having too much water, rather than too little.
Heidi and I have discussed carrying food, just in case we need to eat between rest stops. I am a pro at eating and riding! HA!
I have to be careful to stay on top of my nutrition though. I tend to underestimate how much food I need and don't eat enough. This time, I'm telling myself... EAT!!!! Now, I won't STUFF myself... but I will be eating... at the stop and riding as needed.
I have tried the Sport beans, but wasn't too impressed. Honestly, they stuck together after being in my jersey in 100F degree heat for 2-3 hours. I do LOVE the Clif Shot Gel blocks though. I even have a bag on my bike to hold them, so I can eat them easily on a ride.
Ah... I have eaten salt on a ride before. YUCK! But, I felt a twitch in my calf and I wasn't about to get a charlie horse while riding. It got the job done.
Thanks for all the tips. I can't believe it's almost here!
