    Arm pain - can't ride - discouraged!

Just as I was upping my mileage and looking forward to a 45 mile ride - I've written about this crazy arm pain and today it was so bad I had to stop riding after 4 miles. I haven't been icing it the way I should and its only been getting worse.

    So discouraged.

Red - I'll PM you but if you're out there I'll have to let you know about riding in Newport next weekend.

Even if I can't do the 45 because I haven't been able to train for it - I'm hoping to at least do the 25 which I know I can do easily without training.

    Just needed to vent!

Oh no! That doesn't sound good. Good for you for listening to your body, and stopping today's ride.

Is this pain only happening on the bike? Are you at the point where you're ready to go to a doctor, or are you still at the wait and see stage?

Heya, how old are you? You still have it? Any chance this is cardiac? I hate the "crazy" part. What's up?

OMG I hope its not anything heart related. I didn't even think of that. I don't think that is what it is. I've had it for a while - usually it would come out when I did things like squeeze my water bottle or use my nasal spray. But then on last week's ride - only a few miles in I started feeling this sharp pain on the top of my forearm. During the week its gotten worse - usually when I write or do something that involves squeezing.

But riding today it hurt like crazy - driving dow to ride it was aching so I knew I wasn't going to have problems.

So Red - no - its not just happening on the bike - now I'm feeling it at other times. My friend, who is a doctor, says its overuse and to ice it constantly, layoff using it, and take ibuprofin. I haven't been doing any of that really. So I'm going to try to do that more and give it another week and then I'll go if it doesn't get better.

Thanks guys - thanks Red for all your advice. I'm determined to at least do that 25 since I paid and signed up. Ugh!

Does a wound heal if you keep picking off the scab?

If you're not gonna stop riding at least be vigilant about icing.

Well I have stopped riding - I haven't ridden really in a week now. But yes - its time to be more disciplined and ice.
