For Sale: Bright Red Nishiki Mixte 49cm

Well, feel my pain. I LOVE this bike…, but my wife does not. Period. No mixte-type bike for her. And I’ve been given my marching orders to sell this. Boy, does this hurt!

Because of all the help and friendly advice I’ve received here, I’ll put this up here first. It will not be cheap, as it didn’t come cheap and I’ve invested in a number of upgrades. I offer pretty much everything that has been seen in the various photos, except the Blackburn rack (already on my ’71 Gitane) and the squishy Schwinn spring seat (that was a $5 swap-meet find). The original saddle will be there.

Otherwise, the original stem, bars, grips, brake levers, cables, toe clips and straps, as well as the new stem, bars, grips, brake levers and cables (new Jagwire brake cables alone were $25).

As can be seen in all the photos that I’ve posted (only a select few of which are below), this bike is brand new. It is a NOS bike from a bike store that went out of business. It is a very, very lovely bike. I can tell you that I do NOT want to sell it, but we live in a small place, and it’s in the living room. I’ve been given marching orders.

Okay, enough of my whinging. The Details:

The bike is in perfect shape and condition. It has no scratches. Tange 900 double-butted tubes and all aluminum alloy parts and components. This bike is lightweight. It rides like new because it is a new bike. This bike was made in 1984 according to the serial # (KD11 766). The paint is still shiny like when it was made. Everything on this bike is original, and all upgrade optional items are brand new, too.

I love my wife. More significantly, she loves me. That would be much harder to find.

Trust me, she'll have to listen to me moan about this for ages. (Or, she'll have to forgive my next bike acquisition!!!!)
