Also, a few of us did the Siskiyou Century in Yreka a couple years back and it was excellent.
The Mt. Shasta Resort is a good place to stay, for either event (altho it's a bit of a drive from Mt. Shasta to Yreka), there are nice little 1 & 2-br cottages (excuuuse me, chalets
) with kitchens.
