    The Oscars

So, Sunday is Oscar night. Usually there are one or two nominated movies that I'm interested in, or I'm at least a bit curious about it all. But for some reason, this year I couldn't care less about them.

I will watch anyway, because I have houseguests who want to watch them.

At least there will be some nice dresses to look at.

Gosh, I haven't watched the Oscars in years. And I haven't seen any new movies in years either, although I understand there are a couple of really good movies this year. There's no movie theater in these parts! So I guess I won't watch. Sunday evenings are devoted to my beloved Old Time Radio shows.

But I do like to see the dresses in the paper the next day.

Well I make it to the theater to see a few movies every year, but they are rarely the kind that get nominated for anything. And I rent DVDs to catch up on movies that I don't make it to the theater to see.

I guess I'm just not interested in serious movies these days. Maybe I should have gone to see "Paul Blart, Mall Cop."

heh - this reminded me of when I was in hospital and had just given birth. Son had fallen asleep, and I dared to venture out of my room and wobbily down the hall with bassinet in tow to the tv room, where a handful of other women were watching the Norwegian version of the Oscars. I remember saying "Oh yeah, remember that one" and "Oh, I liked that one!" a couple of times.

And one of the other women turning around and saying in a dry tone - "First kid, huh?"

    Ha!

And now you're an expert on animated kids' movies, right?
