Or...12 miles and I feel great!
Today was Miracle Miles, a sort of mock event and celebration. I planned better this time nutrition wise
Peanut Butter Cookie Luna Bar
Trail Mix Mojo Bar
Banana Bread Lara Bar
2 Lemon Lime Nuun Tabs - broken into 4 pieces
We met at the crack of dark, it had been raining up to the start.
After the coaches talk, one of our honorees spoke, then passed out cards with pictures of all of our honorees. She also gave each of us a quote to carry with us. Side note: Eight years ago I did the AIDS ride. The quote I chose for my letters and sig line was "You must be the change you wish to see in the world". Doreen gave me my quote today...guess what it said.I took it as a sign that today would be a good day.
The rain went away, and the sun came out
I decided not to go for speed today, and was quickly spit out the back. That's ok, I had time. This wasn't the most beautiful trail I've been on, it certainly was the smelliest. Parts are built or right by a landfill -- yum. I walked the first half with a couple of team mates.
Before I knew it, I was at the first turnaround. I refilled my bottle, use the potty (yay for flush toilets) and removed my longsleeved baselayer shirt.
I was feeling pretty good - despite forgetting my sunglasses.
