    I have a DH!

Ok ladies - here is the story:

Last week I worked through Wednesday. I did take off an hour early on Wed. to drive over to Harrisonburg and get the veil. An artsy friend designed it for me and installed it onto my helmet. I was off Thursday and Friday. Thursday I worked like mad cleaning the house and getting everything ready for company. That afternoon DH's brother arrived from PA. DD came in on the train that evening. Friday was spent continuing to get everything ready. It is amazing how much work there is to a small, laid-back wedding! My mom got here at about 2 p.m. on Friday, then at 4:30 we met at the ride-start location for practice. Following the rehearsal we all went to the local watering hole, the Pig 'n' Steak (fried dill pickles!), for dinner. The weather Friday was perfect - sunny & 80 degrees. The forecast for Saturday was cloudy with a 70% chance of showers and thunderstorms. great.

Saturday dawned partly sunny & warm again. No rain in sight through noon and at that time we began to relax a little. Satellite radar showed nothing for several hours. We met at the ride start again; guests rolled in (including Jeannierides!) and off we went. Our best friends passed out kazoos to everyone so that they could play the Wedding March as we approached the church! DH and I had NO IDEA. It was hysterical. Fortunately another friend was videotaping the whole thing so we have the "concert" recorded.

We got married on a little knoll overlooking the Hebron Valley. TE'rs KayTee and KathiCville were there, too. The ceremony was great fun - the preacher threw in some cycling references, the ring bearer didn't lose the rings & the flower girl remembered to toss petals from the basket of her bike. Lots of laughs later we were pronounced married, just as a huge storm cloud loomed and we started hearing thunder in the distance. We rode back to the cars just as the mountains turned black and lightening was streaking down on them. We drove back here to the house and had a wonderful party - complete with nature's fireworks and then a rainbow. I was sufficiently hungover Sunday to know that I had a great time. My mom declared the whole thing "tacky" - no surprise there - but she also said she had fun.

The link below is to a website for a slideshow. Most of the slides are from the rehearsal Friday and up until we left for the wedding. The photographer was playing around with this site and I guess they only let him do a 30 second show for free - so that's all there is. Once I get more photos I will post them. Other people were taking pictures but I have not received them yet. Enjoy!

*LOL* Thank you, BSW - by the way - I was in Longmont last summer for a race...

Zen - great idea. I have the DVD but I have never posted to YouTube....is it self-explanatory? I am taking a break from grass mowing right now - will take a look at YT tonight and see if I can figure it out.

Jeannierides - YOU DROPPED YOUR KAZOO????!!!! I could have sworn it was you playing bass....

Thank you everyone for all your good wishes!! I am still trying to get pictures. I do have a link to the photographer's website, but you'd have to navigate through a bazillion photos. I am working with him to get a separate gallery of favorites.....stay tuned.

Here are a couple pictures of my one-of-a-kind-custom-designed-veil. It is on the saddle of my bike, which is leaning on my "lawn art bike". The green in the feathers matched my jersey.

Yes, it's my helmet.....I can tell you where you can buy one just like it. I don't think you want to take my sweaty one for your own!
