    good and bad news!

I haven't been around much because I have been crazy busy. And here is why.

    1. first the bad news: the guy who hit me did not respond to his citation or whatever you call it. I just paid $230 for my bike.

    2. Good news: I rode my bike today- the first time in 3 weeks. It felt great. I didn't go too fast and I did get to ride with a friend which was nice.

    3. Even better news (maybe a bit bittersweet): I am moving to DC in order to attend Georgetwon graduate school. This time I am after a master of science.

Does anyone know about biking in DC? I stil want to commute/ live by bike. I am wondering how reasonable biking through DC traffic will be. Will living 4 miles away from school be worse than I think?

    thanks

Madscot -- go over to Roadbikereview.com, the Commuting and Touring forum. There's a guy there - MB1, he lives in DC and lives on his bike. He will be able to tell you all about commuting in DC. He and his wife rarely drive - they probably know every route there is.

If you're feeling shy, just a general post about commuting in DC will probably do the trick.

Hey, welcome to DC! Come join us over at the Mid-Atlantic forum. We get together for rides about once a a month. I think we're planning to do another monument tour ride in September or October, so please join us when you get settled in!

Re commuting in DC, it's a piece of cake (relatively speaking). I've been riding in from the MD suburbs full time for a year and a half. Check out the Washington Area Bicyclist Association (WABA) for commuting routes. Make sure you don't have a great bike if you have to lock it up outside, because theft is a problem.

    Again, welcome!

    Yes, Welcome to DC!

I just want to state the obvious and stress that her comment about theft being a problem would be applicable to ANY big city. Don't think you're walking into a nasty viper's nest or anything! We're not all bad!

    I already knew this
    When will you get here?
You know how far from GU you'll be so you must already have a place?

Oh, isn't there a way to go after this a-hole? If he gets stopped for speeding is there a warrant for his arrest? That in itself would be so satisfying, though not completely.
