Map case ???

I know, I have tons of questions!

When I lived in Calif, I rarely rode in the rain. I would clip route sheets to my stem by using a ziptie around the stem then an alligator clip through that. The clip would hold the sheet. I've seen a few front cases with a clear plastic sheet over the top that would suffice but I wondered what other people use/do for this and how it works for them? I don't really need the additional storage space of a case right now and I'm pretty much a minimalist of what I carry on my bike. It isn't to say I don't carry a lot...(tubes, a tire if I'm going on a long ride, gel, the list goes on) but I tend to stow things in my camelbak or in a jersey pocket. I haven't done a group ride in Washington yet so I haven't seen how other people deal with route slips.

Snap, I've seen those before! I guess my question is (and was at the time), what about your computer? Because if you're following a route that says at 1.7 miles you turn right, you'd need the computer. Of course I obsess over it anyway! How else would I know if I rode well or not? (joking but honestly, I get vexed if I don't ride with it.)

I'd do the ziptie alligator clip thing and put the route sheet in a baggie but I'm sure THAT'D be fred

I use a Cue Clip. I've got a piece of clear plastic (salvaged from some clamshell packaging) I use over the paper to keep it from flapping in the breeze.

Oooh, pretty. I bet I could find some heavier plastic sleeve thing in an appropriate size. I could just fold the map/sheet to make it fit. Ok, I think I see what direction this is going. Thanks!

I like the idea of the larger one for, say, an actual map if I wouldn't be following directions turn-by-turn. The cue-clip would be perfect for group rides! I'm foreseeing both in my future, actually.

Yes, the clips look perfect. I found a website of a place that sells heavy duty sheet protectors in all sorts of sizes like 3x6.5". I might look at some of my old ride sheets and see how I folded them up. I know some people use baggies but I think I'd prefer a heavier plastic. If I do get small sheet protectors, I'll order 100 so if anyone wants some, let me know. Any suggestions of size would help too I'd give 'em out for free, how and why would I use 100 of the little beasties? The website I found for thick vinyl protectors was http://www.rabcoproducts.com

Are you afraid the map holder blocks the computer? It doesn't, unless your computer is mounted on your stem.

Yeah, it is mounted on the stem. My bars are flat on top. Oddly enough, that was stock on the bike (Orbea Marmolada) and while I questioned it at first, I now like them a lot. The LBS mounted the computer on the stem just because it was easier. I suppose I could mess around with mounting it a different way if it is an issue. Bikes are getting so creative now! I learned today that the Lemond (DH's bike) won't accept the workstand because the tube is larger. I remember when tubes were tubes....
