    A tri-competitor is born!

Hello, my name is Mr. Silver and I ride bikes. I don't run (I barf) and I don't swim (I sink).

Because of work/weather etc, I've been off the bike for nearly four weeks

I've never swam in my life, but 6 weeks ago, I started swimming. It's not graceful, but I am up to 1K in 32 minutes.

I've never run more than 1/2 mile in my life (and I think that I lost my breakfast soon after), but today, I spontaneously got fitted for running shoes and bought some...and tonight I spontaneously ran my first 5K with Silver - in 34 minutes. No stopping, no walking, no barfing!

I know that the city won't have to send out crews to repair the street from my hammerin' pace...but I'm shocked. CYCLING been 'b'ery 'b'ery good to me - Yah!

At 47, I'm now ready to shoot for my first Sprint Tri!

    Hooray Mr!!!!
5K in 34 minutes. I think I might barf out of jealousy- cuz I've been at this a long time and it's hard for me to do a 34 min 5K.
Just joshing you- I'm VERY excited for you. I knew Silver would pull you to the dark side eventually.

I took a few weeks before I was running 5k without any walking. Congrats and welcome to the wonderful world of triathlon!
I'd rather be swimming...biking...running...and eating cheesecake...

AND you ride a Madone. Sheesh.

Silver is a lucky, lucky woman. Congratulations on running and swimming. I just took up swimming, too, about a month ago, and I can do 1,000 yards in 30 minutes. I'd be right behind you in the swim portion. As for running, let's just say I'd be the one handing out the Gatorade and orange slices midway through.

Oh here it comes. So when's your first event??

A sprint tri is something I really want to do, but a marathon is something I want to have done a lot more than I actually want to do it. The way things are going it's looking like I'm going to do the marathon first... maybe...

All right Mr Silver sounds like the testosterone is getting the best of you! Take a little Team ESTROGEN advice and slow it down a little before you get shin splints or another too-fast-too-soon injury.

BTW - I just did my first tri at 46 and I'm addicted.
