    Talking Food for thought

    To disable ads, please log-in.

Since this seems to be a major topic of conversation around these parts and today's posts have been making me giggle, I thought I'd start an extra silly one.

What WON'T you eat? For instance, I know someone who doesn't like raisins in her carrot cake or dried cherries in my chocolate choc-chip muffins. I did manage to convert her to the evilness of fresh home-raised apricots.

I personally won't eat tomato aspic or eggplant, but I LOVE brussel sprouts.

You're EVIL Sarah. Just plain evil! Do you know how long my list will be?

Brussel sprouts, eggplant, cooked raisins, cherries, too much broccoli (a little is okay), uncooked meats (bad sushi experience), Cold Stone ice cream. I still shudder when I think about why I don't eat that. I'll think of more.

I did have ice cream for lunch - Dreamery Peanut Butter Cup. Hey, I rode 45 miles this morning. It's what I wanted for lunch. And you all thought I was kidding when I said I rode for ice cream.

Green peppers in general. Leave them on the plant, let them turn red. Now you're talking.

Well, one of my little goals will be to make your list shorter! I learned to love both acorn squash and sweet potatos as an adult. There's still hope for you.

Now, green peppers on pizza - I'm gagging right now. Yeah, let them grow up first.

    1.Meat!
Been veggie for 4 years, but I do actually eat some fish so I'm not a true veggie.

    2.Anything that's not grown organically.
No- that's not true, although I do make an effort to go for the organic option where ever I can.

Apart from that I'm incredibly unfussy and there's not much I won't eat. I don't like pears very much and I don't go for oranges much either but that's only because I can't be bothered to peel them, so I don't think that counts, and I love orange juice.

WOW! So far I love everything you all hate. I especially love green peppers on my pizza (add mushrooms and I'm in heaven!). Also love eggplant, broccoli, brussel sprouts eveything. Not the biggest meat eater only because my system does not digest it well. I do love sashimi (raw fish) and most sushi in general (hey, my heritage - I grew up on the stuff). About the only things I just won't eat are: LIVER (and any other organ meats), and banana squash. I love squash in general but I think because my mom made me eat banana squash as a kid, which was slimy and ucky, I just can't tolerate it now. Also, I can't eat garlic (allergy) so I tend to stay away from Italian food and other ethnic foods unless I prepare them myself. You'll be amazed at how good stuff is without the garlic! Yes, I know I'm the only person in the world that doesn't like garlic. It's very hard for me to eat out since most restaurants delight in using garlic. Japanese is the only exception which is probably why it's my favorite. And for some reason, since, unfortunately I enjoy most sweets, I don't like really sweet stuff like pecan pie, flan or custard. But ice cream, now that's a gift from heaven!!!!

I just learned to like eggplant....the skinny japanese kind. I chop it up and put it in a Mediterranean pasta sauce I make.

I will not eat escargot. Not ever, can't make me, nix, nope, no way.

Escargot is not really food. I think its a joke the French have played on us... "let's get those stupid Americans to eat snails... hee hee hee! The joke's on them!"

Also anything they eat on Fear Factor is also not food, it's just not...

    you are a pescatarian, a demi-vegetarian, or a pesca-vegetarian, but not a vegetarian.

Um, I think of escargot in garlic butter as an aphrodesiac, and so does DH.

I can't force bananas past my teeth. *Shudder*

Or tomato soup. Or soggy bread (think French dip sandwiches). Not fit for human consumption. Bleh.

Other than that, I'm pretty non-picky, as long as the food is is good quality - and I define quality.
