If you are wanting to send flowers to your friends and loved ones, now is the time to contact your favorite florist to place your order for delivery on Valentine's Day. Valentine's eve and Valentine's Day is NOT the time to call. Florists will be absolutely swamped and some will even take the phone off the hook once they get too bogged with orders or run out of flowers. And besides, you don't want slim pickin's right?

Just a helpful reminder from a former relief florist.

I just want sushi. Besides freesias are my favorite. The first one bloomed in our yard two days ago. They smell soooooo good. And are hard to find right now at a florist.

Hey Flybye: I just saw on the news that a truck delivering flowers to florists in Boise wrecked and burned.

Make sure your husband knows...so he'll have an excuse if he forgot

    carnations?

I happen to like miniature carnations - for cut flowers inside the house. Was telling this to my mom.... who gasp and said Funeral flowers?!? Apparently she associates carnations with funerals - something about their fragrance covering up the other smells...

    I still like them.

Mr. - Thanks. In the Social Work profession that is what we'd call enabling!!! I *might* fail to mention that to him!!! Honestly, thought, I really don't want flowers - they really have little appeal to me after working in the industry for so long.

I am a minimalist when it comes to diamonds and jewelery - I'd go without a wedding ring if I could, but that gets me into a bit of trouble here and there. I actually have a beautiful wedding ring and it is in my box on my dresser. In its place I wear a super small plain gold band from Wal -Mart. The ring fits nicely under my cycling gloves and says "I am married".

I think I am rambling, so I will get to the point- no flowers, no diamonds, just get me cycling stuff and I will be happy. If the UPS truck with that parcel on it crashes and burns, then I will be saddened!

What do the rest of the ladies have on their wish list?

I associate the smell of all cut flowers with funerals.
Not a big fan of them, honestly.

My DH did say he got me something "not romantic" for Valentine's Day...but it won't be in until early next week. No idea what it is...didn't expect anything (nor do I really want anything), cuz dang! That puts it on me now to get something for HIM.

Hmmm.... just think of something not romantic - or something uber romantique to contrast... or just don't worry about it. It'll all work out in the long run..

Me too! Hubby loves to buy me jewelry but I would rather have cycling stuff at this point.

Flybye, did you get my pm?

Former floral designer here, too! It used to be so hard working like a dog the whole week or so before Valentine's day and seeing how much money men were willing to shell out to declare undying love for various sweet hearts, only to drag home and find dh and the kids waiting for me to fix dinner. Dh has become much more enlightened about these matters these days, which is nice, but I don't need much either; just making the gesture means a lot.

my hubby is a penny pincher but no worries...it gets me out of having to find something special for him! besides...I am more of a simple person as well and want to be included in the purchasing of things! He did excellent for the holidays...I emailed him link after link of things I liked...he picked what he liked of those things and put them in my stocking!!! I had no idea what I was getting but it was something I wanted...and I forgot half the things I sent him links of (mostly from the Terry sale) hehehe

He is on crutches now and can't drive to any stores...so I said we get nothing! Our anniversary is the 18th...a fun dinner out and a couples massage is on the menu for then!!!!

***I had better get at least a handmade (printshop) card tho...I know he can do that!!!!

I despise holidays where gifts are expected. It would mean so much more to get a gift without being told to expect one by the jewelery store ad or greeting card company.
National Pancake Day is the only exception.
