    Kiwi coming to San Francisco

    Hi all,
Well, I have a holiday planned with my partner in November and we are coming to the San Francisco area for a couple of weeks. We plan on being in San Fran for a couple of days, then on to Sacramento to visit friends, then to Yosemite, then somewhere up the coast a little way and back to San Fran before returning to New Zealand.
We are bringing our bikes and plan on doing a bit of riding. Singletrack, trail, cross country type riding preferably.
Has anyone got some ideas or feel up to escorting us anywhere?
My fitness is not fantastic (it will hopefully be better by then and my partner is superft which gives me more incentive) but I am open to options.
    Cheers
    Lisa

    Hi,

I don't MTB .... but welcome to CA

November is often a great time to ride here. Consider staying in SF and doing day trips to Marin, South to the Santa Cruz area, or forget about the city and go North to areas like Mendocino ....

We have got a book on bike rides around the Bay area, but I am hoping we might get an actual local guide as well if there are any willing people around who want to show off their home territory.

Talking Awesome riding in San Fran area

    Hey there ...

I spent 10 days in the San Fran area last spring as part of a spring camp to get prepped for the summer race season. There are loads of great places to ride ...

Here were my two favorites - you have to drive a little but it is well worth it!!

Santa Rosa - Annadel state park: I spent 3 days biking around this park. The first day I spent 8 hours on the trails and only after about 7 hours had I ridden all of the trails there. There is something for every skill level and it is loads of fun!!

Santa Cruz - Wilder Ranch state park - beautiful views of the ocean while you have loads of fun on the mtb!! Not as technical as Annadel!

Check out http://www.sfmtb.com/ and also http://www.gatetrails.com/ for some more options.

    Have fun!

    Cool

    Cool, thanks.

Only a few weeks to go now.

Anyone got any other suggestions of bike or non-bike related things to do in San Fran, Sacramento or environs?

I plan on buying Christmas decorations (I love Xmas) as the range available here is reasonably limited. I also want to buy some good clothes, boots, shoes, bike apparel etc AND hopefully buy all of the Christmas presents for my family.

I haven't been here before so if anyone has any times, must-see or must-do things, then would love to hear about them.

    Cheers

I don't know if you'll be here during this but I always enjoy it.
