    New twist to dog saga

    To disable ads, please log-in.

Ok, this has been one heck of a week! As you all are aware I;m dealing with an ailing great dane. She is still hanging in there, but the jury is still out on whats wrong...

So then we got a new twist this afternoon.
I was driving home from the pool when I encountered a boxer running down the street ajacent to my house. I stopped because I thought it was my next door neighbors dog. I called her to my car and she came immediately. It was not my neighbors dog, but it was the sweetest little thing that appeared to be starving. It was also VERY apparent that she just had pups recently. So I bundled her up and put her in the car. The first thing I did was give her a bowl of food and water. She devoured a large can of wet food in seconds. The poor thing she was starving for sure. She has a collar but no tags. I found her at 5:00 pm on a saturday, so there wasn't really anyone I could call. I did call a local pet finding service called Sparkies Magic and they are going to help me. They have a chip reader so they are on their way over to see if she's chipped. If not I guess I'll keep her in the garage tonight and see what I can do tomorrow. I just feel like there is a reason why I happened to be on that street at that moment. I just hope that she can be nursed back to health. She is so thin it makes me sick to look at her. She's also as sweet as can be.

So once again I need puppy prayers, but this one is for a sweet little boxer- name unknown...
    Thanks!
    Denise
P.S. Please spay/neuter your pets, and PLEASE microchip them!!!

Wow Denise, how interesting. And how kind of you to take that poor dog home and feed her! I wonder where her puppies are? Scary to think about what might have happened. Have you introduced her to Abby yet?

Sometimes the universe speaks in interesting ways, no? Keep us posted!

P.S. I'm really glad to hear that Abby is hanging in there....

Well, if it isn't one thing, it's another... a blessing in disguise (okay, not a very good disguise ). Both Abby and your new friend are lucky to have crossed your path. Sending good vibes your way for both... sounds like everyone can use it!

PS: How DO you find time for training amidst all this? You truly are Iron!

Yes, the dog found you for a reason! Thank you for caring for her!

abby likes her, she is another story...

I think abby intimidated her so she growled and snapped. I was hoping I could let her stay in the house, but I guess that's not to be. I will bring her into the laundry room tonight tho. The garage will just be too cold. Suppose to be in the 30's tonight.
    Sigh....
And I have a long ride in the morning. This shall be interesting..
Yes Ironman training does go on. It just adds to the stress thats all. But thats ok. I'm Iron right? And after reading about RNR girls mom, Ruth. Heck- that's nothing compared to what she is going through!!

That dog is definitely in your life for a reason. Just stay open to all the signs around you.

My friend at work had a similar experience this summer when a border collie puppy got trapped under the gate to her yard. She tried so hard to find the owner but they never connected. Through a fluke, she found out later that the owner had left his puppy in a car in 90 plus degree heat and she escaped through a small window opening. It also turned out that the owner was not really mentally or financially capable of taking care of the dog. In the end, the dog stayed with her for a while until a young boy fell in love with her after losing his puppy unexpectedly to disease. She gave him the puppy and they are both very happy now.

These things don't happen just because. There's a meaning. I'm sending both of the dogs lots of hugs, kisses and scratches behind the ears.

Poor baby! She's hungry and scared and alone in a new place! I'd probably growl and snap, too! (oh, wait, I already do that every time I'm hungry or scared or...)

You are so good to take her in!

She is one lucky dog! You just gave her a second chance and I'm sure she knows that.

There's no telling what she's been through, but dogs are very forgiving. Now she's safe but she'll need patience.

I wonder about the pups. The rescue group may know more, could have been a puppy mill in the area ... very sad.

Mae's spayed, tagged and wears all my old road id's .... next vet appt I will have her chipped. Everyone .... log off and hug your dog.

First off I would like to say "YEH FOR YOU!" not many people would take in a stray.

Secondly, I would like to say that I too own a boxer, Zeus, and they are INCREDIBLE dogs.................... for whatever amount of time you have her ENJOY HER!

    Thumbs up Great News!!!

The owners have been found!! And yes, she has 8 two week old puppies at home. Needless to say the owners were out looking for her late into the night. Thanks to our local pet finding service they saw a flyer.
So her name is Tosca and she is back at home. The little girl that answered the door was so excited to see her.
I'm so happy to see that she had a loving family. I do wonder about why she is so thin, but I'm guessing maybe the pregnancy? She ate like a pig for me- and pooped ALOT!!

YAY! A happy ending! I'm so glad Tosca and her family are reunited! You must be very relieved.

How's Abby doing? Give her hugs for me and from Diva and 'Cuda, too

    Hugs and butterflies,

If she's been lost for a while that could explain it. Sounds like she has a loving family.

Would this be a good time to remind everyone that spaying and neutering is good , but getting everyone microchipped is really good?

All three of my kitties are microchipped. All three were rescues, all three are indoor only cats, and I have no intention of them ever being strays again.

    I love my moggies.

Not to thread-jack, but how does the chipping work on animals? Is it painful? I have two indoor cats, but they hover around the door, so I've thought about getting them chipped. (Especially, Annabel, she growls at us when we put her collar on.)
