    Lightbulb Bicycle Brand Personality Survey

    To disable ads, please log-in.

    Hello!

If you have 5 minutes, I'd greatly appreciate your help on a school survey.

We're unaffiliated with the Trek brand; we are students at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. We're seeking to learn more about Trek's perceived brand personality.

It's quick and fun. Thank you!

So is this in addition to the last survey we answered? Or should we pass on this one if we answered that one?

Do you ride? What kinds of bikes do you like?

Sorry, I don't follow famous personalities and don't know who the women are that you asked to compare the Trek personality.

I have no problem with student surveys and think that they are kind of cool. But I just don't think of brands having personalities like people have personalities. Vain? Kindhearted? Meh. I had to give up on the survey because it doesn't fit how I think.

Just a humble opinion from a retired intellectual property lawyer.

    Bizarre. I quit the survey:
    • I do not know any of the people featured with pictures
    • I do not personalize brands
    • I dislike Trek

Also, I hate surveys that force you give answers. Strictly from a research participation point of view, participants should not be forced to answer questions. Not answering is in itself an answer -- it could mean that the question was phrased poorly.

Yeah, that is probably one of the silliest surveys I've ever seen.

Yeah, I quit it too. I didn't realize it was a fill-in-the-blanks survey. Multiple choice is much easier.

I quit on the 1st question. I don't have a strong enough opinion about Trek to have 5 words come to mind about the brand. It wouldn't let me proceed if I didn't complete all 5 lines.

I don't have a problem with the surveys that the student is asking us to take. Nor am I offended by the way the questions are worded, even if I can't answer them. This student is probably learning how to format surveys as well as learning how to analyze the data. I'm happy to help her/him gain experience with this process.

I haven't taken the survey because when I buy a bike I focus on alot of different things first before even looking at the brand name. Bike fit/geometry (huge one for me since I'm short), handlebar positioning, gear ratios (so I can climb steep hills), disc brakes vs. v-brakes, bike weight, etc.

I can only guess why personality branding and purchasing patterns is even being conceived here: there are some folks who buy stuff because a famous movie star/athlete makes it cool for the item they are using/wearing.

If Trek is truly trying to figure out whether their funds at the pro level are being recognized by all sorts of cyclists... I wonder why their sponsership of female cyclists is so poor? Afterall, you are on a WOMENS website.

I also quit on the first page - I am not a fan of Trek to begin with but I don't base my bike purchases on personalities - I've learned to look at a lot of things before I consider a brand name. Fill-in-the-blank surveys are quite simply not user friendly - and it also makes it far more challenging to categorize what results you do happen to get.

But it's an interesting concept. Could be fun to run with it. If your bike/bikes were a movie star or other known personality who would it be and why?

    You again?

Your very first post to TE was when you started this thread:

    http://forums.teamestrogen.com/showt...357#post632357

You had no qualms asking us to take our time to help you out, but you could not be bothered to explain the purpose of that survey.

Now, in only your second post to TE, you're once again asking us to participate in ANOTHER survey for you?

    You've got some nerve, kid.
