uuuuhhhhh - not sure whether to put this under cycling, non-cycling, health or humor...

My apologies to anyone who might feel strongly about this, but to me this is mumbo-jumbo of the worst kind:
"Power Balance is performance technology that uses holograms embedded with frequencies that react positively with your body’s natural energy field to improve balance, strength, and flexibility."
I think I'd be better off with a wristband that says HTFU.

I, too, think it's a bunch of nonsense- but I suppose it's power in their mind's eye. Whatever gives them the confidence to *think* they are stronger, more centered, etc.
I have 2 professional triathlete friends and 1 professional in-line skating friend who wear these (and numerous other friends in triathlon and cycling). They will all SWEAR by them. "they really work." ummm... OK.
I, however, do NOT think they make a bit of a difference (like the magnet bracelets that are supposed to help you physically) and think they're placebos.
I'm certainly not shelling out $30 for it.
I read the brochure. It's HILARIOUS!!
I think a HTFU bracelet would be just as effective for me as well.![]()

I don't understand...
A hologram is a picture. How do you embed "frequencies" into a picture?
A frequency is a repeating event (a wave). So, what is moving/waving?
Beneficial frequencies? There are all kinds of repeating events in the body, which ones are they benefitting, and how do they know that every single human is going to react the exact same way?
And I thought we were all supposed to be wearing those magic titanium BB tubes to make us better athletes? Now it's pictures encased in silicone instead?
I'm so confused...
(Maybe I'll just do it the old fashioned way, and exercise to get myself more fit. I'm so behind the times.)
ETA: by the way, I often have patients ask me about various magic talismans they see advertised. The placebo effect is incredibly strong and very well documented, so I try to give diplomatic answers.

The're like the pictures in Harry Potter, they move![]()
Let's see: Power and balance.I could strength train, do hills, lift, then work the core and flexibility, do yoga and more Aikido, lose weight to increase the strength/weight ratio plus it's easier on the joints therefore better balance ....
think I could get an infomercial, be on QVC with this?![]()

Okay. My mom bought me one, maybe a month after my dad died, along with one for herself and one for my sister.
I tried it. It didn't improve my balance at ALL... in fact, it made me feel drunk. And off balance. Seriously, drunk. It was the only change I made.. wore it for a day and a half, felt really weird and wobbly the whole time. Took it off and felt better within a couple hours.
It was strange. My mom returned all three of them, but I was the only one to notice any kind of effect.. positive or negative.
Has anyone dissected one of these? I'd love to know what the frequency(of what? light waves? Sound waves? Microwaves?) producing holographic picture looks like.
If it doesn't require a power source to produce a frequency-modulated wave of something (whatever it may be), it could be the holy grail of perpetual motion!

Artifactos - did the bracelet thing apply pressure to a particular point? I'm wondering if that is what affected your balance.
I like Wonder Woman's better.
